If you polled the LSU fans on this website, I'd guess maybe ~25% would say Murphy is your best back. That's strong for a guy I thought would be 3rd string.

I don't know exactly how many think he is our best back, but he has many fans, I think, because of his effort....not that Scott and KW don't run hard.

Run a full house backfield and you can play all three*.

*(providing someone wants to block)

Really not a bad situation to have. I don't mind arguing over three backs. It's a luxury. I still thing Keiland has the better upside, though all three are close.

How about Keiland Williams, T Holliday, R Murphy and Charles Scott? We have all 4! An embarrassment of talent at RB...lets just use them all and enjoy it

Scarborough is reporting that Ridley fumbled several times during the scrimmage. This should at least dispel the ranter theory of Keiland backing him up this year. Of course its Scarbs so it could be wrong.

We're loaded at RB with more coming in. Our best RB is the one who decides that he's going to hold onto the ball.

Last year, you'd have to take a pair of bolt cutters and cut off every one of Hester's fingers to pry loose that ball. Result was we had another year of incredible stats in turnover ratio ... all because of Miles new focus on this weakness. You fumble, you sit.

I like Scott's fearless attitude and the way he hits a hole. He's the biggest of the backs and we'll need him to get through the season. I'm really starting to like Murphy also as he's coming out and showing up TOUGH as well. Williams has the potential to be the best, but he's gotta hold on to the rock, no matter what. Pat Johnson just took it away from him in the Scrimmage. KW is in Miles doghouse for that, no matter what Les says.

The stud that hangs on to the ball will get the ball the most in 2008. Mark it!

The question shouldn't be "Who is our most talented running back?"

The question should be, "Which of our running backs gives us the best chance of winning?"

Was Hester our most talented back last year? Hardly, but he gave us the best chance to win, because of what the coaches wanted to accomplish strategically (not sure if I spelled that correctly).

Is Keiland our most talented back? That's debatable, because everyone has his own criteria for what 'talent' is.

I do know this - if he continues to demonstrate in practice and in scrimmages that he's going to put the ball on the ground, then he's going to find it difficult to see the field in a game, because Les is NOT going to feel comfortable with someone who doesn't secure the ball.

You can have all the talent in the world, but if you can't hang on to the ball, you will not last very long. Apparently Stevan Ridley put it on the ground in the scrimmage yesterday, too, and that's gonna cost him.

Right now, it's probably just a confidence thing with KW, like the drops with LaFell last season. He'll just have to work through it, and once he does he'll be fine. Until then, LSU will be just fine. Those of you who don't see the talent in Murphy really are blind. He may not be as fast as Keiland, but he's got better moves and sure seems quicker in the games I've seen than Keiland.

As long as he picks up the blocking assignments on passing downs, I'll be very comfortable with him in the game.

All LSU fans should be happy that this issue is even debatable.

I truly like all of the backs, but Scott's special. I've watched him, and his vision through traffic, and ability to glide through using his speed, and power sets him apart from most major backs in the country. Including ours.

Moreno, Wells (and a few others) get the recognition because they all feature backs, and only ydg counts in ranking rbs. Few know very much about our backs, because JH was not only more than capable of toten the rock, was a sr, and the logical choice. KW, CS, RM, and now SR are the best kept secrets in football. And a MAJOR reason we don't rank higher in voters eyes. This is IMO by FAR the best 4 rbs LSU has had on one team, and could verywell carry this offense to another BCS Title. And running behind one of LSU's very best OL. Hester was a pleasure to watch as he earned every carry he made. KW, CS, and RM play in a different gear than Hester, and could be electric behind this big time offensive line.

How bout this?

For LSU to be successful in 08, KW, CS, RM and SR will all need to contribute

satisfactory?
