Wow this proves your lack of football sense. Forget the variables like amount of time the D was on the field and scheme change. He's been a top defense everywhere he's been. 0 HC experience is one thing but based on his performance as a DC he's looking pretty good.

Jeff Brohm, University of Western Kentucky. A name to watch.
I was super impressed with that team last year, they had some seniors so it will be interesting to see how they do this year.

I don't think Strong would leave Texas for LSU though. I really think he has them going in the right direction now.

Aranda w/ a solid OFF cord hire
This. Aranda is strategist. A thinker. We would have a good offense. My only concern with Aranda would be in recruiting.(as others have pointed out)
Anyway, this would be my top 3 also. In order.

It amuses me that you automatically brought up race.
I am more than willing to admit that I overlooked how well Shaw has done at Stanford post-Harbaugh. Automatically assuming I did so because Shaw is black just shows that you yourself are a racist POS.

I'd love to have frank back in some capacity but I'd be worried about only 1 year of HC experience.

I think we need to go after Jimbo first since it seems like he was in or close to being in last year. I think he loves LSU and wants to be back in the SEC. He has done great at FSU. Pair him up with Aranda and that's a winner. I also think with Herman you will have to worry about him going to the NFL or Texas/Ohio State.

Frank just doesn't have the experience yet. I think it would be hard for the board to say yea one year at Stephen F. Austin is enough to take a chance because of his ties here.

UTSA, but exactly. I dont think anyone would be against getting Frank back here in some capacity ASAP but just because he's "one of our own" doesn't mean you can overlook the lack of experience.
IMO you can basically write off any of the names being tossed around that have 0-1 years of HC experience.

Tony Romo since his pro career is toast

I actually wouldn't be opposed to Orgeron or Aranda.

Tom Herman is on Russilo and Kannell right now

So, since I initially started this preliminary thread, I'll update everyone on my current state of thoughts since we have had a few weeks to evaluate the current staff in place. Feel free to chime in on yours.
I think like everyone else, I have been less than pleased with Herman's season thus far, as well as Jimbo's for the most part.
Ed O was never my initial preference. But he is now. I would have actually preferred Aranda head to head at the time I originally started this thread. However, if they can retain Aranda and get rid of Peveto, keeping Coach O is where I'm at right now. This is of course assuming we still remain at the same level of competitiveness and intensity for the duration of the season. Not saying run the table, but splitting the remainder of games would do it for me. I'm good if we compete hard, but lose a close one to Bama, with no bonehead decisions of course. And win one or both against A&M and Arkansas.
Another reason I say I'm leaning towards wanting to keep Bebe, is not wanting a major decision like a coaching search to rest in the hands of F. King and Alleva considering their track record thus far.
