I am worried because, based on RPI alone, Coral-Gables was the scrappiest regional

whew

I think we have as good of a chance as any team (to make it to Omaha). But, it comes with some caution as SB has outstanding team pitching and can hit completely throughout their lineup. They have more than double the steals that we do and they score runs like mad men.

I think the difference this weekend will ultimately be pitching due to the facts that we have two top line studs in Gaus and Nola AND the fact that I think they might have hurt their chances by overthrowing their ace in Coral Gables.

Yeah, they are a great small ball team! We have always struggled against those! And, I am worried about our inconsistency at the plate! Just like Sunday night, come out of the gates swinging with Raph's 3-run dinger. then NOTHING until the 9th. has happened too much this year. And, with Stony just hanging runs, I am worried that we may get too far behind to catch up. And, i sure hope Manieri does something with ARBY!!!

I don't know what there is to do with Arby man. That was his first error of the YEAR last game. I think he plays the best outfield of anyone available on our roster (much better than Foster) and that's not saying much.

He can't hit worth a shite. I'd almost rather him bunt every pitch and then take every pitch when he's got 2 strikes. Can't be any worse than he's hitting now.

we will see. I am just worried. Makes it fun though! Sure was a great game Sunday. But, it would have been an easy win without Arby's error. And, thank god there 3rd baseman made 4!!!

That regional was the hardest regional per RPI.

But there were no big time teams to beat. Miami wasn't dominant, UCF limped in and Missouri State is just that. IMO, the other two options listed in the OP beat tougher opponents to get here - Kentucky and UNC - both better than Miami and UCF.

Just my opinion though.

If you've won 50 games, you're in the super regional round, and you've had several top round draft picks, you're probably a good ball club.

LSU does not have an easy path

Zona might score 40 runs in 2 games vs. St. Johns

I'm thinking Arizona over SJU, too.

btw, do you think there will be extra emphasis this week on the LSU pitching staff not to give any free trips to first base? Stony Brook likes to steal, about as much as Vandy does.

NC State has a LHP throwing mid to upper 90s. The LH bats of Florida will prolly struggle against him. From what I hear, he is the real deal. So struggling in game one would not make this an easy super regional. But I do agree that ACC always chokes so who knows.

I dont think stony brok has seen the kinda pitching that we have, LSU may have the 3 of the top 10 pitchers left in the NCAA.

that would have been one hell of a regional
