Morbid - it astounds me that a guy who is part of a fan message board and has made nearly 22,000 posts in 3.5 years claims that he doesn't understand the importance of LSU football to people here.

I understand your point. I just don't give a shite about your point. Your point is dumb.

College football at LSU (and generally throughout the South) is part of the social fabric of the state.

So it's more than just watching 22 guys chase a ball around a field. Most people who grew up in the South understand that.

We all get this. Point is, most rational adults can make adult decisions in this case. If you give a shite about the couple, it’s an obvious choice to choose the wedding. If not, say frick it and go to the game. The hand wringing over when a couple decides to get married is so childish and selfish. I remember getting pissed about stuff like that when I was like 15 and 16.

My wife's friend who was a bridesmaid in our wedding got married the day of the LSU Oregon game. I told my wife that the memories from that game will last longer than their marriage. She went to the wedding, in a hurricane.

My pawpaw's funeral was on the day of the Alabama game in Tiger Stadium. Me and pawpaw weren't that close

You’re one of the kids that does what he’s told.
It’s cool, takes all kinds.

I'm not in anquish over when a couple decides to get married. I'm merely saying that more than a few of their invitees are probably football fans and the invitation will affect them.

Same as if the wedding was on another day where something big (not football) was going on in that area that many invitees want to attend.

Not saying it should be the only factor for scheduling a wedding, but other big events on that particular weekend should be considered. That's just logical.

Meh,,, divorce rate is at 50%
I’ll take my chances.

End of the day nobody gives a frick and for most weddings they won’t remember or care if you were there or not.

There damn well better be a GIANT TV at the reception

My cousin got married at 5PM the day LSU played bama, 2016. I brought my TV. It was at an indoor/outdoor pavillion, so I didnt feel too redneck about it.

I think LSU Football is important but nothing is as important as real life events. Watching a bunch of players who will never know your name or attend anything you do is not as important as having real family, friends and experiences with them.

I used to be diehard but it dawned on me how little LSU cared about us regular joe diehards so why should we care so much about them. Unless you have great parking passes and suite/stadium club seats it just isn't the same anymore.

Wut? Lolz

A football game is a real life event.

Family weddings are one thing, weddings you’re standing in are one thing.
Some friend you see 4 times a year, or a friend of your wife you barely know is another.

Making a decision for yourself is more than acceptable in life. No one should judge you.
What’s important to one person may not be important to others.

Do what makes you happy. They decided to do what made them happy on the same day.
The LSU schedule was out first, just saying.

I would just go to the wedding service but it is your wife's best friend so...that sucks you'll miss it.

I think it is real life for the players and coaches involved. For the fans, I disagree. I see your point though because I used to see it exactly like you but something in me changed. I enjoy it now for what it is but it isn't my life.

Yea it’s just an opinion. Most of my friends are married now. I stood in 10 or so weddings. So I’m over the wedding stuff. I do things I enjoy now. My SO, an LSU graduate as well, is a lot younger than me, so all her friends are getting married now. The reason she’s my best friend is because she understands how useless it is for me to attend. Especially when it’s scheduled during an LSU game.
Like I said, everyone has a life and some things are more enjoyable for some than others.
Doesn’t really define a person whether they choose to attend a wedding on game day or not.
Maybe I’ll change my tune when I’m older, but by that time it better be my kids getting married...and it won’t be during LSU football season, believe that.

Lol. Grow a pair. I definitely won’t miss a game for a wedding. I don’t like weddings anyways so why would I miss a game for one.
