It is Yeskie job to make sure the pitcher knows enough about pitching to not throw a strike in that situation. the hitter is protecting and anything close or in the dirt, whatever they are going to swing. To throw a strike down the middle is a dream for the hitter who is very nervous and defensive. It is called coaching pitchers how to pitch, not just call the type of pitch. That was bush league base ball and LSU is playing it a lot with the coaching that is or isn't going on these days.

No, the really dumb ones only give credit to coaches when something good happens. When things don't go well, people that know a thing or two about the game, which you and your cohort obviously don't, often, not always, you have to look to the coaches to see if they are taught basic baseball. Basic baseball for decades has always said that when a pitcher has 0-2 on a hitter the next pitch should be something away from the hitter out of the hitting zone. The coaching aspect of it come when the coach drills a pitcher to NEVER throw a hittable pitch on that count. It is the coach's job to drill that into a pitcher....Yeskie has failed in that regard for a long long time, and that tonight was one of the most egregious.
