Only way Miles is fired next year would be for cause (major recruiting violation, insubordination, etc.). The buyout is too large. Only way, other than cause, he is out in 2010 is if they have a losing season the next 2 years. He will be in trouble after 2011 or 2012 for consistent 7-5 or 8-4 seasons.

I think they get back to ATL by 2011. He is amassing a lot of talent. I don't think LSU will have the run of the mid 00s when they went every odd year, but that is because there are too many good coaches in the west which equals more parity. Lsu should still make it to ATL every 3 or 4 years.

Les Miles is not a bad coach. He has recruited as well as anyone in the SEC west. He has a lot of influence over the offensive which was 3 or 4 in the sec even with QB problems.

I'll tell you what makes me think that next year will be as bad as this past year. We lose half or more of what was supposed to be a great O-line, and we lose several key players on the defensive front and others on D. And although I think that Sheppard will be a great player here, he will still be a freshman, along with some other wet behind the ears Qb's. And Miles is still running the show, which in itself is a bad thing. He hamstrings Crowton obviously, and he has no control over the players with a major lack of discipline. We will not beat Florida here, or Bama or Georgia or Ole miss on the road, and Auburn and Arky are always tossups. Hell Arkansas has a 2 game win streak against us, when we definitely had the much bigger talent advantage on them. Anyway, next year will be a bitch like last year maybe worse, maybe a little better!

Payout next year is $15M

that is correct and it was increased from $10MM. The buyout is if he is fired without reasonable cause, which means lawyers will debate what constitutes reasonable cause and Miles and LSU will reach a settlement for less.

Hey wittle cuntry, I will never support shite, so if the shite is on the way, and it is obviously well on the way, you go support it fricker. And don't worry about the people that care about how things are run and don't want to go down with the sinking ship no matter what. You go ahead and support Miles no matter what he does from here on out. You were the one or two supporting Dinardo and Brady till they were canned too I'm sure. I'm not gonna just follow blindly when it's painfully obvious that things are going incredibly the wrong way, and I don't have any faith in Miles, and he has earned that.

last sentence.....

What do you really believe?
Reading comprehension. The original poster said this "if he can set aside his blind loyalty and surround himself with coaches."

He qualified what he said about being a solid coach for years to come with an IF.

Les Miles will only be as good as his dc is. good dc hire=miles at lsu for long time. poor dc hire=possibly out next year.

i hope it's not his last year, but if he fricks up the cupboard will be full and we will hire a great coach. LSU is going to be fine, with or without miles.

tigerstros, I think there are only two seniors starting on the O-line, big Herm and Helm, and Miller, but I don't think Miller was a starter. I'm worried about defense.

Why would any coach want to coach LSU with a fan base as ignorant and divisive as many of you - including the poster. His record at LSU is magnificent and you don't win anything by just having good players and drawing plays in the dirt during the games. Miles took his eye off the ball this year by:

1. Promoting loyal staff guys to DC - very common
2. Not having sufficeint experienced QB depth
3. Did not manage team frustration with QB play and horrible defensive prepeartion which got the entire team down. BAMA game broke our backs -- like the LSU game broke Bama's last year.

From my view, he will make the adjustments in staff, personal, and his own attention to detail.

He likes winning and making $3.5 million a year.

They don't. That's why LSU can't keep a coach longer than 5 years after Cholly Mac left in 1979.

4. I believe that the only thing that could make
a coach with heart and talent like Miles leave
is reading this board and seeing the classless
and stupid ranting of what is usually a great
fanbase.

Lets March for Les again!!!!!!
