I remember the story of Mainieri and Cannizzaro meeting and forming a relationship on the recruiting trail involved Paul asking Andy his opinion of Duplantis. This eventually led to Cannizzaro being hired. But yeah, Duplantis committed before that.

Here's the background of an intertwining story I've always found interesting.

Mark Teixeira was traded from the Rangers to the Braves and included in that deal was Beau Jones. Teixeira then gets traded to the Angels at the trade deadline. The Yankees sign Teixeira the following off season and have to forfeit their first round selection in the next draft (25th pick) to the Angels. The Angels then choose Mike Trout.

The previous year, the Yankees failed to sign first round pick Gerrit Cole. They were awarded a compensatory selection in the draft (the same year as the above paragraph) and they selected Slade Heathcott.
