Josh Reed was amazing. Michael Clayton was just an all around great FB player. The new group as far as pure receivers though, have the hardware and NFL careers to back them up As being the best.

The two groups
- 683 catches, 10,976 yards, 16.1 ypc, 76 TDs
- 552 catches, 8,657 yards, 15.7 ypc, 74 TDs
Which group is better?

Should have Carlos Carson instead of Clayton.
Maybe have a group with
Todd Kinchen
Eddie Kennison
Eric Martin
Wendell Davis
Carlos Carson
That is much more interesting

an might as well make the old school a bunch of tackle breaking CB decapitating and linebacker laying out fools so I’d go with
Josh reed
Dwayne bowe
Michael Clayton
Jarvis Landry
Any day of the week any time of the year in any weather turf grass or fricking concrete these 4 together knocking dudes the frick out and dominating opposing teams would be down right scary, I imagine seeing these four in the fourth quarter chasing guys around after the ball was snapped trying to find someone to Block and the CB and S running backwards and away from the violence coming down the field from the edges at WR lol

3 likely NFL HOFers. Anyone who argues differently is being nostalgic

Not one person on the old list could carry the jock strap of the most recent group. Even Reed. That’s how good those guys are.
You didn’t watch the older guys if you believe this. Martin and Davis were elite receivers who helped Hodson own thr passing record in a run oriented offense. You saw Chase and Jefferson in a pass oriented offense. For example in 2018 in a run oriented offense Jefferson had 875 yards and Chase 313 - not exactly eye popping.
Davis was a stud until he blew out both knees in the pros. Jefferson is not going over the middle like Martin would in the NFL where receivers could be taken out without fear of a “targeting call. Martin was the most physical receiver LSU has had. Landry and Clayton at their very best are close to Martin.
Reed in the Saban run oriented pro offense was the best receiver in the country.
For what they produced in the same style offends, give me the old guys. Todd Kincben and Tony Moss were electrics and would have played A LOT in the 2019 offense if they were on that team.
BTW - Landry is my all time favorite receiver at LSU.
