Rules of transferring used to be too stringent. Now it’s total 360 where they are to lax. It needs to land somewhere in the middle with guidelines and contingencies for certain exceptions.

Its NIL by a longshot, the portal is the main issue.
The problem with going back to old transfer rules though is the potential unintended consequences to NIL. Currently, its rather easy to cancel NIL agreements when a kid transfers. If the rules are changed and you effectively hold the kid to your school, it could tie up NIL funds on a a malcontent or failed prospect.

Very few transfer if not for NIL...or should I say, a lot less transfer.
Eh. The majority of transfers are not starters and are looking to play so they can get drafted.
There are a few exceptions of good players at “smaller” programs that leave for NIL as well as more exposure.

NIL
Portal is making the programs less stable and the kids uncoachable. Encourages kids to make bad decisions. No way Finley should be able to do what he did.

Both are wonderful and should have always been available.

Why? You don’t make a rule that coaches can’t take new jobs at new schools so why should the players be treated differently?

Again, then make a rule about coaching staff changes where they can’t leave for other jobs immediately too.

Exactly and no one is giving NIL money to someone who can’t play immediately
How do you know if a high school kid wanting a lot of money is going to play immediately? It’s a toss up

It’s progression with coaches. It’s pussification for the players. Big difference

We’re now paying 18 years olds millions of dollars. They have agents. Think about that.
Any purity of CFB is gone now. They no longer have to cut their teeth to make a living.
12 team playoff gets rid of the perfect season aspect as well.
If some high profile NIL kid like Bryce doesn’t pan out, coaches are still gonna play them bc he’s being paid millions.
The trickle down effect is gonna crash the game. And we’re seeing it this season.
