re: Which coach would you rather lead your program, Dabo or BK?

That is a good point. I’d definitely say BK seems to be more motivated to win a natty than a 55 year old Dabo who has already won two & doesn’t seem to be embracing the current state of college football (NIL/Transfer Portal).

Didn’t Clemson only recently start using the transfer portal too? They will probably be an elite program soon again, if not already.
Dabo is a strong leader imo and a great coach.
ETA - Quick Google search shows Clemson didn’t use the portal until recently. They had ONE incoming transfer from 2020 to 2023. One in 4 seasons

Dabo
How is this even a question?

That is true, but it's also true that since that run Dabo went on, he's had back to back 3 loss seasons and most recently back to back 4 loss seasons with some really ugly losses mixed in there. It's fair to say Dabo has the better long-term resume but he hasn't been nearly the elite level guy since Trevor went to the Jags and Brent went to Norman.
Sure, but you can say basically the same thing about BK. BK hasn't been the elite level guy since JD left. Maybe the main thing holding Clemson back is his mindset on NIL and the transfer portal. Which to be honest is the similar mindset that BK had up until 8 months ago. We'll see how this season plays out. I think LSU should end up being the better team by the end of the year.

Is "your program" in the ACC or SEC?

They officially brought in 4 players this year compared to LSU’s 18.
However they did only lose 9 as opposed to LSU’s 23.

Dabo is younger and has two titles but his last title was 7 years ago. Dabo has been a pretty consistent 3-4 loss guy since that run fizzled out for him
Lol ...so what has BK done in those 7 years since Dabo's last natty?
Its much harder to navigate through a conference than to be an Independent.

Dabo has a better resume plain and simple

This was a surprising thread
I thought there would be a bunch of CBK nut suckers talking about how great he is
Instead, common sense has prevailed.
Well done, ranters

I think they are both good coaches but definitely opposite personalities. If you had to choose one who would it be?
2020 or before- Dabo. Easily.
Today- BK. He has adapted to the changes in College Football much faster and more fully. Dabo doesn’t have the NIL program that we do and he’s still only dabbling in the portal. He’s going to be up and down from now on. He will never get back to the run he had unless he changes a lot more than he has.
Think about it this way- if Dabo hadn’t backed his way into a playoff bye last year, would you still think he’s relevant right now?

Change. That’s really all it boils down to for someone who would choose BK. Present over past. It really isn’t about liking BK as much as looking at Dabo and seeing a reflection of Miles- too stubborn about running the program his way when that doesn’t fit the new reality of the sport and too slow to embrace change. Unless he goes all-in on what college football is today, he will be good, but never great again. Right now, he’s a playoff contender because of how shitty the ACC is. That’s the only reason they even sniffed them last year.
I would rather see what Kelly can do with the NIL and recruiting machine that’s been put in place here over the last two years. Dabo would let himself and his stance on recruiting get in the way of that and not take full advantage.
If Kelly can’t get it done with the money that’s currently in the recruiting pipeline, then you move on and don’t even consider Dabo as a replacement candidate.

If you can win championships at Clemson you can win them at LSU. I think you could win more at LSU, especially right now. We have the fastest growing brand in college sports.

Let’s see
One has 2 national titles where he beat saban when the stakes were the highest.
The other has a bunch of wins but never won anything meaningful in his career at the D1 level.
What a tough choice.

As a coach, Dabo; for all reasons pro-Dabo posters already indicated.
As a person and man leading, mentoring young men, Dabo.

Seriously?? Dabo has 2 NC under his belt.

Clemson has a pretty easy path in that conference.

Took Dabo 8 years to win one at Clemson. You guys woulda run him off before he got there.

Dabo has two titles, but coached in 4 championship games (in a five year span)
Dabo has also made the playoffs 7 times (second only to Alabama), and went to six in a row.
