Where was the short underneath stuff yesterday?

You have to move the chains, but the over the top passing game and running game wasn’t there.

Ask Joe Sloan.
You'd have thought that once Nuss started to fall apart, we'd make some adjustments. Not calling the same running play up the middle on every 2nd down might've helped.

Remember we tried it once and Nuss threw it to a defender

anderson and Williams were short and underneath.
Nuss needs to play better.

Someone decided we needed more long throws to the sideline for a potential 1 yd gain

No idea. It seems like the offense completely changes when CJ Daniels is out. We did the exact same thing in the Ole Miss game. I don’t think Mason Taylor had his 2nd reception until the 4th quarter.

Nuss played like hot arse pretty simple

Agree completely…if you try to throw 60 yard passes on every play, you end up throwing into triple coverage…

Looked like a Les miles run offense yesterday

The pass rush was coming up the middle and to Nussmeier's right....then periodically A&M would throw in an extra rusher from Nussmeier's left. Nussmeier gets lost in the high weeds and can't see the shallow slants...if there were any. Then he is forced to move to his left or right running for his life and the A&m defense began sitting on routes.
Also A&m's lateral speed was pretty good last sight so anything like an attempted screen was chased down before the RB has any time to get some sort of vision. Now LSU goes into panic because there is no credible threat of a run game because the defense knows that Durham is best outside the tackles and M. Taylor is more comfortable between the hashes and the sideline

Sloan didn't make Nuss force throws to Hilton. Anderson, Taylor and Thomas was open all night. Nuss keeps trying to force throws

One of the best analyses I’ve seen on the topic.

Sloan has absolutely no clue how to call a game or lean on our strengths and what’s working.
He’s almost immune to using what’s working.

LSU was handling aTm's standard rush packages and at half Elko told Holly Rowe they were going to have to do something pressurewise to get Nuss off schedule. I heard in the pregame radio show that aTm has existed well this year just relying on the 4 DL for the pass rush and they did not blitz much. In the second half they got a lot more creative in bringing pressure and chasing Nuss from the pocket where he makes bad decisions. They sacked him twice and pressured him a lot in the second half and lets face it... after the first pick he got rattled.

The interception affected his confidence

Because he has absolutely no run game to help him. The poor guy probably feels the need to be perfect. He knows that if he can't get the yardage through the air, then we are fricked.
