re: Where the heck is Mike VII?

Are we going to continue growing our tradition of being the example of what it means to love and care for nature? LSU has dedicated a great portion of land to the care and comfort of all Mikes and Mikes to come. When so much land is being torn down for the benefit of parking lots and buildings, LSU has designated a great portion of its own land to Nature. Just think about it, if LSU does discontinue the Mike the Tiger Program, what will happen to the land designated to Mike? The land would be turned into parking and have buildings raised up on it. There are times when PITA has a valid point and a place in the world, just like everyone else but those concerns should be directed to the cruelty and ill treatment to animals. Are they really for the preservation of animals? Think about it, tear down Zoo's and wild life centers designated to specific endangered animals. What does that really do for the animals being pushed out of their own natural environments? What happens to the land that was designated to those animals? It just lessens the room for those animals to live and breed. Yes, make sure those designated areas are properly taken care of and make sure the animals are not being neglected but to shut those areas down will do nothing but create less space for the animals. Mike is LSU and makes LSU unique. Don't stop a great tradition because of outside pressure that is misguided and obviously has an agenda other than what they try to hide behind.

I'm honestly more concerned about getting our next Mike than about changing basketball coaches.

PETA does not want LSU to have another tiger. LSU needs to tell this animal death cult group to euthanize itself.

God forbid I defend PETA, but those stats shouldn't really surprise anyone. Euthanizing unwanted pets who would otherwise be out in the streets starving, spreading disease, and multiplying is both humane and responsible. I don't have a problem with that at all.
As far as them protesting our live tiger mascot program, they can go suck an egg.
I haven't read this entire thread, but is LSU talking about ending the Mike mascot or is this just us arguing pros and cons? I hope they don't back down...LSU is a godsend for tiger cubs born in captivity that would never make it in the wild.

We need to just start calling them croutons. PITA (yes, I really do know this is not their acronym) has gone stale and lost its initial purpose.

This is exactly what they (F King) are doing. They will probably not break this "bad news" to us until the conclusion of our next football season (telling us instead that the search is ongoing). After next football season, they will announce that it was impossible to find a live tiger from an "approved" vendor....also letting us know that we were able to have an entire football season "without" a tiger (proving to all this "live mascot stuff is unnecessary and foolish). I would not be surprised if Mike VI was intentionally not allowed in Tiger Stadium in an effort to "get everyone used to the idea of NOT having a live mascot."
Sorry......but I don't trust any of these clowns (F King, Alleva, etc). They think we are all stupid and they enjoy playing everyone for fools.
You fricking nailed it man. Way to read the situation.
