since 2009, here are the numbers against so called cupcake teams from a "previous starting QB"

2011 WKU 8/14 168 1TD 0INT
2010 MSU 5/8 28 0TD 0INT
2010 ULM 4/10 51 0TD 0INT
2009 ULL 16/25 165 2TD 1INT
2009 TU 11/17 163 2TD 1INT

55/74 575 yards 5TD 2INT

If Mett can top 11/15 115 yards 1TD, it will be an improvement over the average.

ETA: MSU is McNeese

it's just going to frustrate you even more when mett tops 575 yards in two games

Its simply amazing that if Mett throws for 169 yards tonight, it'll we be a recent high against cupcakes for our starter

To be fair, JJ probably didn't play the whole game in any of those and we all know Les likes to go conservative....but still they're not very good no matter what excuse you try to cover them with.

I honestly don't know if Mett will throw a lot tonight. I quit trying to figure out Les's game plans. He might let him loose or hold him back to restrict game footage for later in the season.

I'd be happy with 200 yards though I hope we throw it a lot more to get him ready. Anything less than 150 will be pretty disappointing unless it's due to being limited on passing plays.

I checked Lee's stats and he never threw for more than 168 against a cupcake either. You have to go back to November 10, 2007 against Louisiana Tech when Flynn threw for 237.

It feels good to have hope again.

I think we'll run a lot, mainly because we can. But I could see him throwing for a buck 80, even 200 if he's accurate.

Or Les will let the dogs out and he'll be 25 for 31 for 365.

I think it will be 60-40 run-pass. Les always keeps these games Vanilla as hell. But we will air it out several times because I believe Mett is the most accurate long ball thrower we have had since Hodson.

I would hope Les lets Mett throw so he can get as much game time experience as possible. But there's several things working against him.

1) Les's stubbornness in play calling.

2) Les's Big 10 style mentality

3) Les's hate of running up the score that makes him shut things down in the 3rd quarter.
