Seems like we have guys with the credentials out of HS, but nothing more than average on the field.

Whenever we don't have 4 running backs splitting carries, so whenever we get a new coaching staff.

Because when someone starts to dominate he is taken out and someone else is given their opportunity...

So, when we get a new coaching staff that can't recruit decent running backs? That would cut down on the competition if we had one decent back and 3 shitty ones.

I think Charles Scott 2008 was better than Ridley this year. Of course the OL was better, but still... that is part of the issue.

When we get a dominant OL. Everyone talking about Knile Davis after Saturday; did you see how big the holes were that he ran through? Gotta have the blocking and we haven't had it in years.

Well, first off, LSU is probably one of the easiest recruiting jobs in the country. If you aren't a complete moron or in-state talent is terrible you can probably get a top 15 class regardless.

That, and running backs are easy. Our two previous 1,000 rushers in this program were basically nobody recruits, but they had decent (not great, but decent) O-lines to run behind. You don't have to be 6'2 220 running a 4'3 to be an effective college RB.

Ummm, we have a 1000 yard rusher in a backfield littered with studs. Why would you want 1 player to get 90% of the carries and risk wearing him down/injury when we have plenty of capable backs? This thread is dumb.

Didn't he tend to wear down at the end of the year?

Knile Davis

How about a dominant passing game to give you RB some help.

I'd say Stevan Ridley getting over 1000yds averaging 4+ per carry with a pass offense that is the worst in the conference and ranks 107th nationally is pretty dominant. People don't give Ridley near enough credit. Its to bad the OPer fails to recognize circumstances and can only relate dominance to the player that gives him a hard-on whenever he touches the football

Yeah, Scott had a huge start to 08 and then crashed and burned down the stretch.

Ridley stayed pretty tough all season long.

4.6 YPC, 1,000 yard season, double digit TDs... not much more you can ask of the kid.

If that is true. Please explan the pre-Dinardo, Saban and Miles recruiting levels. The only universty that I believe has a slam dunk in recruiting is Notre Dame.

I know I will get hammered for this.
SR had very good year while having to split time. Miles has constantly implied certain backs are better at certain things.
Is this why LSU is going to have a log jam at this position?
Look at it this way
Ridley with JJ's carries = 1545 yds this is great

or

Ford with JJ's carries = 957 yds

Either way those are great stats.

Ridley and Ford! If healthy, that is going to be a bad arse duo next season.

I'm not guilty of this sin. At least 15 times this season, I've said "Thank G-d for Ridley. Otherwise we'd have no offense at all."
