Bottomline is this:
LSU fans need to accept Les Miles as he is. He is a great recruiter, great man, great role model and mentor, and loyal to LSU. He does make mistakes but he is the best coach LSU has ever had. He could have left us for his alma mater Michigan (TWICE) and he chose to stay here in Baton Rouge. I love the dude and hope he retires here.

You see the difference in coaching, when Bama had the ball last they knew they would score. Our coaches on the other hand had absolutely no clue what to do. Everyone in the stadium knew we would get sacked on the last play just like right before half time. We looked like Pop Warner ball.
What about the other 435 yrds of total offense? Someone lured the coaches away with candy and let Mett call every play?

quote:Whattttt? You can look at 9 games LSU has played this season, you can look at the anemic offense, our ongoing problems in the red zone and in 3rd down coversions, and all you can say in reply is I "must want Crowton back????" Surely even a dim bulb can perceive our offense has been lacking most of the season. If you can't, then you must be totally satisfied with mediocrity. And you probably were happy with Malvetto before Chavis stepped in and showed everybody what a real DC can do with the kind of athletes LSU has at its disposal. Imagine if we had a real OC. Not Krag, not Stud, not Les, and no, not Crowton. A real OC, given the green light to really coach, just like Chavis has mostly done.
You must want Crowton back.

the people that think Les is a retard because he made a couple of bad calls are the real retards.
Is Les the only coach in CFB that's made a bad call? You can't name bad calls made by other coaches because you don't watch those teams like you do LSU. To suggest someone with his record is retard shows you have no prespective.

"Has he or do you just notice his bad calls because you are an LSU fan and watch all our games with an emotional investment? I think his mistakes get magnified more to you because it's our team."
I wonder about this myself and the majority of my post focused on the tremendous positives with Miles and our staff. However, I do think it is fair when asking the quesiton you just posed to see what those who are NOT Tiger fans have to say, and, well, it is often rather critical of Miles when the issue is in-game coaching. I am NOT trying to bash Miles here, but to be completely blunt, many national media types and fans of other schools would support the assertion that Miles has been more prone to in-game coaching mistakes than most other top coaches. So, while I could be wrong, I really don't think it is just being magnified becaue it is my team. Again, though, the good far outweighs the engative in my opinion.

I'm not name-calling our coach but come on, it's not just this past game...it's the entire time he has been here. Numerous clock management issues, calling a timeout after a turnover, calling for a spike at the end of the Ole Miss game, the end of the Tennessee game a couple of years back, Tennessee 2005

Les did not loose Sat. John Chavis did with his shitty prevent Defense. The Tigers played great until the last 2 minutes. Then the Chief changed the Defense & it cost us the game. He pulled the same shite when at Tenn. 1 year & lost the same way! I am very proud of the Tigers & hope we win out & go to a great bowl. I hope this young team don't get down after they lost. Flame away.

Unfortunately, I let the smaller truth get to me Saturday night and was just furious with some of the calls (primarily the fake FG and the decision to try the long FG). We have a tremendous program going right now - best in school history - and Miles and his staff are A+ at recruiting and running the program and usually do an outstanding job of preparing the team during the week. Unfortunately, Miles has established that he is more prone to poor in-game decisions that most other top coaches. That is too bad, but I had to remind myself on the drive back home not to throw the baby out with bath water. It is still a great time to be a Tiger fan, and no one is more responsible for that than the very man I was cussing at half time, Les Miles. We could do much, much worse...
All true.
quote:I was frustrated over these; I was livid that the Defense suddenly went limp and soft over Bama's final possession and quit doing the things that shut Bama down all 2nd half. In spite of all else, Bama was whipped and beaten. You could see it on their faces on the bench. You could see it in their body language. But that one fatal decision to change the defense to soft/prevent on that final possession is what ultimately cost LSU the game.

Glad you do but.. you gotta accept that he is going to win about 75% of his games.. won't win a NC again.

I have always just hated the prevent style D's UNLESS a team is up two scores. I have not seen the replay yet but we were playing extremely soft - I said "my god, look how far back Loston is" before one play - while also bringing a DB (Eugene). So, a little wrinkle, I guess. I will never understand this and I have seen countless football games where it only "prevents you from winning." Sigh ...

Yea, because he has no prior history of making retarded decisions

Usually when you are told to STFU, that means you have made a credible comment and that particular person does not have the intelligence to rebut your post. The funniest thing about this how so many people take this personal. All it boils down to is some people think what Miles does is good enough; others think he is underachieving. Both are opinions so STD.... I mean STP or ????? I even got a "GFY"...and used perfection in same post.....
