students and coaches.
oh good lord. I'm an attorney and there's no "privilege" between coaches and players.

Reese plays basketball for the defending national champions. She's a public figure.

You do realize there's an entire media devoted to covering sports. There's even a cable TV channel or two that covers only sports. Maybe you missed that.

And that media tries to get all kinds of info, to keep fans informed. When players/coaches/schools withhold information, people are going to start wondering why. Human nature.

If she provided just basic context like “She broke a team rule”, or “She’s getting her academics straight“, it would eliminate a lot of the drama and speculation in the situation.

frick no. She doesn't owe the fans or the media anything and to make a post like this is just coming off as entitled. What Mulkey did was 100% the right move. She knows what she is doing and is doing it her way which is why she is able to recruit so well.

140 downvoted and counting but you are exactly right. Mulkey has every right not to say anything, but at the same time and media and fans have every right to ask. Nobody should be surprised about the speculation being all over the place.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen:

"I want to report that Tiger1242 did not bag up a sufficient number of french fries during yesterday's lunch rush at Jack in the Box. He also served several sourdough jacks on regular bread. Therefore, he has been formally reprimanded."

Let's say it's a very personal matter. Then, what should CKM say? What if CKM announces reasons for some suspensions and not for others because of the nature of the matter?

If Angel wanted it out there, she is certainly free to speak for herself. All she's said pretty much is don't believe everything you read.

apples and oranges.

My job isn't done in public, whereas it's glaringly obvious to the entire country that Reese isn't playing.

That draws questions (especially since she's the best player on the defending national champs). Of course Kim can respond how she wants, but if she's not giving out much info, people will begin to speculate.

But it's not a bad thing that fans are wondering why. If Jayden Daniels didn't play, with no reason given, this board would be on fire.
