re: When Mett gets his timing down with receivers, Tigers will be unbeatable.

How do you figure his timing is not already down, having completed 75% of his passes?
Not to mention the 6-7 flatout dropped balls by the receivers. Other than the two interceptions, Mett has probably only thrown 2 passes that weren't catchable. When the coaching staff feels more confident in Mett, is when this offense will really take off.
Not really complaing though, I'll take 220 through the air and 220+ on the ground everyday of the week.

running game is a given albeit yardage will be hard to come against them
LSU rushed for 148 last year with only Ford, Ware, and JJ. I say both our backfield and run blocking are waaaay better than last year and Miles won't let Ware run it 16 times for 1.8ypc. With Mett being able to at least look at multiple WRs, Hilliard and Ford/Blue as our top backs, yards "and" TDs won't be as hard to come by.
If what we saw last week out of our secondary(ball hawks) continues to develop, we win by a touchdown IMO.

but the run defense is not as strong as last seasons team, but it is still strong.
Good thing we picked up our new backup QB. Gordon Gefferson. He is a dual-threat guy that runs the option well.
Seriously their run defense is not as good and especially their secondary. They made some improvements on offense that mask other things taking a step back.
LSU's run game is stronger this year as well. Mett will threaten downfield and we'll move the ball and eat clock all game. That and our defense taking a few turnovers from a desperate McCrappin trying to keep up. We got this game.

Look, cut mett a little slack here. First of all, this is only his fourth career start as an sec qb. Second, his receivers are young and inexperienced. Third,he has had less than perfect protection from an offensive line trying to come to terms with losing a future first round pick all American tackle,in Chris faulk. Lastly, mett hasn't been allowed to chunk the ball down field like we all want to see because of the ultra conservative nature of the play calling that stud and miles adheres to. Cut the dude some slack. As the coaches gain trust in the qb-receiver chemistry, they will allow him to throw more. Mett is that good but it takes time to develop a passing game from scratch because we haven't had one in years. Patience is a virtue, get some.

dude, that will not happen, did you watch last season's MNC game?
I watched the last three LSU-Bama games and saw LSU run it down their fricking throats two out of three. This year will make it three out of four. Now quit whining.

"respectively"? Am I going to have to spank you twice? ...Yes

Who's whining? you guys are taking things the wrong way as always. I'm just sayin once the kid gets his timing down passing wise, the Tigers will really take off. Right now, it's just not quite there, you can see it. His reads are a lil off, but all that will improve with each game, that is why by Nov. 3rd, I expect him to be really passing all over the place, which will be really bad for Alabamay!

I respectively disagree, sir. Clement when thrown to can catch
I respectively agree. Clement dropped one/two vs Oregon and was part of a parade of pass drops by our TE's in a pre-season film clip but his hands are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Made a great catch for a TD vs WVU and loved his catch and hurdle vs UF in '10.
W.r.t. the OP, my take is there are parts of the passing game that are not as "timing" critical as are others. IOW, our passing game hasn't matured yet. But it should and once it does our O is gonna be a load to deal with.
My guess is our O is operating at about 50-60% capacity (whatever that might mean).

It is timing and decision making. He has been good, but needs to avoid turnovers, which he will as time moves on.
Posted on 9/21/12 at 11:19 pm to Broketec
Yep throw less than 20 attempts a game. Think Gary used that stat last year.

Mett is far from the problem. As long as the WRs catch it and the OL blocks it, victory is forthcoming in every game. Hear Dat Bama!!!

He's still got a few fundamental flaws but they're getting cleaned up more and more every week.
He'll improve all year, like AJ McCarron did for Alabama last year, and by the end of the thing will be playing a very good game.

2 teams got under the gump's skin LSU, and GSU. Pass happy teams were mauled.

Not sure about unbeatable. But unbeaten would be pretty dang great.

yep, may have gotten a lil carried away with the unbeatable stamp, but you know what I mean. They will be very good!
