When is the cut off for transfers?

Is there a date certain on Portal transfers?
Let's say Max is named starter a week before UCLA game. Surely Brennan can't go directly to the Portal, declare, and then play for somebody else this season, right?
I'm guessing that once classes get cranked up, you just can't transfer and play elsewhere. So if he Brennan were to get benched after the 3rd game or so, he's SOL for this season.

Can go into the portal and transfer but would have to get a waiver to be immediately eligible. The deadline to get in the portal and transfer without sitting a year has passed.

This is what ranttards can’t wrap their head around......You honestly think Myles wasn’t given assurances by now that he’s the starter? Burrow didn’t get that from Meyer after spring and jumped ship knowing he only had 2 years left. Myles would have done the same by now. Max still has 4 years. This is Myles job unless/until he falls apart

That hasn't got squat to do with what I'm talking about, mensa! I think he will start vs UCLA and the scenario I'm talking about is about if and when he could choose to use the portal if he was not named starter and if things went south for him after he actually got the starting nod. Not whether or not he has or hasn't been promised to start. How being enrolled in Grad School effects the situation is not clear to me---and maybe not to some of the other Rantards either... Hijack something else, Assling.

Brennan can transfer, but it is far better for him to stay at LSU as a backup because by the time the decision is announced, it is far too late for him to transfer, learn a new offense, and to develop chemistry with a new team.
Then after the 2021 season concludes, since Myles will have one more year of eligibility remaining, then Myles can transfer to another school and have enough time to learn a new offense and gel with the players on his new team.

In order for him to transfer to another school and be able to join the football team for 2021 he would have to do it before enrollment for that school is done. In your scenario where he wants to transfer mid season he would have to wait until the spring semester to go to said school. He could either stay at LSU as a backup (like Jalen Hurts) or leave the team (like Kelly Bryant).
At this point, Brennan more than likely would not play on the field for any other team in 2021 but LSU.

You think running away from competition with max Johnson is Myles’ pathway to the NFL? I’m sure someone with half a brain told Myles that if he can’t beat out a young quarterback he has no business in the NFL anyway so what’s the point of transferring?

Now comment on Joe Burrow running away from competition at OSU. Peetz pathway to the NFL will be delayed if Myles goes on to huge success at another college, like Burrow did.

They definitely know who will get the first reps when the fall starts but that doesn’t mean that person will be the starter but the team will definitely know who the starter is when they break camp and start game prep.

See, that's what I'm talking about. Along with some other points made above.
I couldn't grasp why all the freakin' drama over whether he transfers or not. Short of hauling arse in the next week or two, he can't really go anywhere else and play! His eggs need to be all in the same basket and go for broke here. Howard is coming in next year so the competition will be even more stout. It's this year or bust as I see it.

I'm betting that since Ed O said everyone in the locker room already knows who the next starter will inevitably be because it is very apparent, then that also includes the two QBs competing for that one starting job.
