The upgrade starts as soon as Kim walks in the fricking door!

Definitely. And Woodward isn’t going to even think about screwing Mulkey over like Alleva did to Wade.

Does Baylor have better facilities?
I don’t follow women’s basketball.

Given they have a national champ women’s and men’s team I would assume so.

Most if not all men’s and women’s teams facilities overlap

Gotta look at this move as a show of athletic department commitment to basketball mens and women’s.

Hopefully they model it after the Auburn Arena.

No. But they are gonna build a brand new arena very soon. Mulkey wanted it on campus. The Prez and AD both want it built downtown where there is gonna be new restaurants, stores and apts. The new arena will be the centerpiece. Mulkey pushed hard for it to be on campus but she was shot down. Hence the move to LSU.

Does Mulkey now get first dibs on practice time and space? Maybe move Wade to Nikki’s old office and give Wade’s current office to Mulkey...Gives Wade a little incentive to do better.

Y’all put way too much emphasis on the arena when talking about facilities. I mean, I get it, the arena is what fans care about most since that’s what we sit in to watch games and plays a role in our experience.

But coaches care more about their training facilities. I can guarantee you that Mulkey, like Wade has already expressed, will expect to see an immediate upgrade to the basketball ops facility. That’s what they and recruits will care more about.

As for the person who asked about Baylor’s current facilities, they play in the Farrell Center, which was built in the 80’s. They had a practice facility constructed in the early 2000’s:
quote:

Another major upgrade was the construction of the Lt. Jack Whetsel Jr. Practice Facility. The 42,990 square-foot addition includes the Hawkins practice courts, the Getterman Office Suites for the coaching staffs, and Gray's Gym, named by R.T. Gray in memory of his son, R.B. Gray. Other improvements include the Hall of Honor entry, the Stone Reception Room VIP area, as well as upgrades to the training room, media room and visiting locker room. The $8 million Whetsel Practice Facility was dedicated on September 8, 2006. Previous upgrades to the Ferrell Center have included: new state-of-the-art locker rooms in 2004.

How nice it is is unknown; but sounds like it at least has more to it than LSU’s current one. Based on the description of the new arena being built, it says it was going to feature practice courts and coaching staff offices, which would better explain why Mulkey was pushing so hard for it to be located on campus instead of downtown.

Curious as to what Wade was promised. All seemed to go to hell after the Scandal hit but am curious as to what will happen. Always thought the Pmac was pretty decent. How can it be improved inside and what upgrades can realistically be made to the practice facilities without starting over? Cant ask for a better on campus spot than where the PMac is located.

It's funny you got a downvote for this.

It's the absolute truth and the Kim Mulkey hire practically guarantees LSU's investment in total basketball operations. It's a win-win and what many can't necessarily grasp - as we're generally known for football and baseball - is that Men's basketball is the go to money maker for many schools.

I dislike the word synergy in general, but it's poignant here. Build up total basketball ops together and be a powerhouse. Use that revenue to get the next baseball coach, etc. It's a big picture plan.

Makes sense...20 years at the school and she decided to up and leave solely because she didn’t like the location of an arena.

Thanks for your hot take and personal insight into the matter

The Pmac and Coleman Coliseum are the premier arenas in the SEC.

Woody and Carville better start a big capital campaign. This is going to get expensive. Low interest rates will help.

You must be a Democrat. If they build a new facility they would have to go up on price of tickets .... something else to bitch about.

Thanks for trying to make this political when no one else went there. But since you did, if they went up on ticket prices to help pay for that, im fine with it. An investment in better facilities to get better players in the future isnt a bad thing IMO
