Why would he sit out?

Nothing is gained by sitting this kid.

The NCAA is not currently investigating LSU, and all of the smoke about smart is just speculation at this point. There is no reason to sit him.

You people don't know very much about the NCAA and how they operate. Wade is on tape talking about making a offer to a recruit, identified as Smart. LSU suspends Wade because he refused to answer questions from his boss ( LSU ) about these comments. Why Wade refuse to answer if he is innocent in all of these and there are not more damning information that could come out? As you said you he isn't being investigated. Only is that the FBI wants to question him under oath about another person. Why would Wade refuse when neither the FBI or NCAA are investigating LSU or Will Wade at the current time? It is because he knows there is somethin far more damaging that will come out. With all that has happened and Wade being on tape talking about a "offer" to Smart. Right now if LSU sits Smart. They can tell the NCAA, see when we first found out about this we suspended Wade and sat a player that potentially was ineligible because of illegal benefits. We did everything within our power once we became aware of a potential situation. They can argue for little to no punishment for violations because they were proactive. If LSU plays Smart tonight, which they don't need to beat Vandy. The NCAA will tell LSU you knew about this situation and you still played him, so they will then drop the hammer on LSU big time. Now IMO the NCAA is going to do this anyway but they can't make the argument that they did everything to fix this if they play him.

Smart will not play tonight and he shouldn't based upon the current situation.

No investigation currently and we would have to forfeit every game he played in if the hammer dropped.

There would be absolutely not reason to sit Javonta. I’m sure Alleva will make him sit.

You could say the same for Wade.

Suspending Wade and playing Smart is a perplexing, illogical decision, which is why I'm sure that will be the decision of the LSU admin.

Are you kidding? If any of this is proven to be true the NCAA is burning the school and the program.

There is no middle of the road here, no way to mitigate the damage. Either LSU walks or they burn.

The punishment won't be any more severe if he plays another month. Same for Wade.

We're trying to win brownie points from an organization that has shown they don't seem to care. It's simply stupid.

If Smart was paid, all of our wins will be forfeited regardless

Wade is not under investigation, neither is smart, and until there is an ongoing investigation, nothing should happen to either.

Welcome to reality.

I mean come on people, right now everything LSU admin is doing is motivated by damage control. Appropriately so.

Get you heads out of the sand.

Nothing personal OP, but admins can we please limit the
"will smart play" threads to 75?

Exactly right. It made no sense whatsoever to suspend him.

LSU hasn't limited any damage. They've added fuel to the fire.

Why don't someone ask smart what happened. Is smart driving a new car. DOES he have more money to spend than others. DOES his mom have a good job now. Young kid with money is gonna flaunt it in some way. He should know something bout it

Is there proof that Smart actually accepted anything more than a scholarship? If not, he should be playing.

My guess is he doesn't play for LSU again. But I don't think Will Wade ever coaches a game at LSU again either.

Downvote away. I'll be more than happy to be wrong on both accounts.
