He was eligible from the beginning of the season. He just wasn't playing much and essentially left the team. That's pretty much it

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking if he's still not eligible for whatever school he's transferred to? He already played in games here and subsequently left the team. He's not been on the roster for a little while now and his spot has been replaced. There is no recent news because the old news was final.

I wish they could get Josh Gray more minutes especially in these games they are way ahead in
Let him develop
They could use a big like that come tourney time
I hope he's not the next in the transfer portal

Whoa. Totally missed this story. I'm an idiot.

Wade has said he would play Gray in games where a team was really beating them up on the low block with size (see Florida game). But the reality that some on here apparently refuse to live in is that there aren't a ton of teams who have a pure low post traditional center. Arkansas had a 7'3 player. He was largely a 3 point shooter and LSU literally took him out of the game because he was too slow to defend an LSU team that doesn't just have a Shaq like player posting up all game long. Gray may get some minutes vs. Kentucky, probably Florida later on, and maybe Missouri (assuming that game is played) and Mississippi State. Otherwise, he probably doesn't fit what THIS LSU team wants to do.

That said, I think Gray is fine. He stated in interviews before the season that he knew he had a lot of work to do in developing his game and body, and I don't get the sense he was expected many minutes this season.

Agreed, we don’t need a true 5 with the way we play. It’s not necessary in modern day Basketball. Auburn went to the final four last NCAA tournament, I think there tallest guy was like 6’7-8, and even those guys weren’t true post players. But they could all run and shoot the 3.

Didn't have the chest. Apparently California was further from Baton Rouge after signing with LSU.

I mean, if we had a good one he'd absolutely be playing, we just dont.

There's a reason Wade sold out trying to get Moussa Cisse in here, he would be the difference in a very good to then great team. Our only weakness is defensive rebounding/defense around rim. Cisse is averaging 8 boards (3 offensive) and 2 blocks a game in just 20 minutes for a 6-4 Memphis team, almost feel bad he fell for Dickie V's nonsense.

Also when Auburn went to the F4 they had a 7 footer in Austin Wiley.

Yea but he only played like 10 minutes a game, and even less down the stretch of the season and post season. Most of the time they ran with a smaller line up and no true big.

No question he would help, but I don't know if he'd be the difference between a "good and great team". Even when LSU had size (think KBW and Reid) they were a bad defensive rebounding team. And that with both of those guys averaging 7 rpg along with Williams who was getting 5 rpg. LSU is not a poor defensive rebounding team because they don't have size or good rebounders. It's because of how they chose to defend. I don't think simply inserting Cisse would make a huge difference there. 4 years of stats say he wouldn't.

Cisse is doing a great job of blocking shots for Memphis. But would he be doing the same for LSU is the question. LSU has a solid shot blocker in Leblanc (he showed that at Georgetown). Yet, often times he is guarding at the top of the key trying to use his length to create deflections vs. being a shot blocker similar to KBW. I'm not saying Wade is wrong for taking that approach. It just is what it is.

LSU values steals and deflections on defense above EVERYTHING else. Wade's comments and the stats make that very clear. Would that approach be conducive to generating big stats for Cisse? We'll never know.
