re: whats the deal with Stevan Ridley's injury?

If Scott got hurt and KW was not performing well Ridley would have filled in with zero production drop off and in my opinion an increase in just about every aspect of offense. he is quicker than CS. He hits the hole like KW should. he hits the los just pissed off and i love that. That is why west monroe runnin back are so successful. there better athletes all over, but if you hit the hole like that you have such an advantage over the Defense. mainly the dline. no tackles behind the line. how ever I think CS and KW have earned the right to be the only backs to see the field this year. and they are great backs. this is an awesome problem for us to have. the second or in this case third stringers are always the most popular pick.

It's still a mystery to me why KW shudders at the line.

RM is our speed back...

Are you suggesting he is overall a more complete back than anything we got?

that drives me nuts. he has good vision but you cant see anything behind herman johnson. as a runnin back u have to take the handoff at full speed.if he could get to that second tier with the linebackers in a hurry he could be gone before they had even got around a lineman. that just what i have seen from ridley in his limited PT. we havent had that in a while. when Justin Vincent was at his best he was hitting the hole full speed.

Sounds like what happened to AB. It is a shame if he tore up his knee. We may not be able to RS Ford if this is the case. I know, we have CS, KW and Trindon.

I guess I am. Not that I would trade either of our senior backs. and they do deserve to be the ones on the field, but if i got to choose the best rb of the bunch. he would give me the most options as an offensive coordinator.

I was at the Tulane game and remember Ridley taking carries in the 4th quarter and I remember thinking that he was really hitting the holes but I would want to see him when we are playing REAL teams during the year. That game didn't convince me because it was Tulane, who again, had a HORRIBLE run defense.

I don't think ford takes a redshirt year FWIW

that is when he caught my eye. however, it has been said the last two spring trainings that he has performed great. i remember players and coaches praising him. i have a few friends that are on this team and alot from past teams and they said he was beter than our starters last year. seniority is just how it goes and i dont have a problem with that. seniors and juniors put there time in and deserve the benefit of the doubt.

ok seriously, we have 3 capable backs to use. It is not uncommon for one to get hurt, but for 3 to go down?? The chances are extremely thin. I think they will redshirt Ford and that they should because we need backs for later. Should the unthinkable happen and all 3 go down, then we can take off his redshirt.

Miles was high on him...
But I beg to differ when it comes to Senority... I think we play the best players available not the oldest.
*see Patrick Peterson
Its just more times than not the oldest has the most dialed in "nose for the game" or instinct if you will. This comes from years of coaching tied to the epiphany and understanding that sometimes you gotta make it happen. (Does that make sense?)

when was the last time under miles that we used a back under 215 as our main back?

I mean do you people intentionally ignore the senior all-SEC back on the roster?

it only took half a year for him to start when he was the best all year

you are right. Justin Vincent, freshman all american). Its just my personal opinion. If they are just even backs then i would go with the elder. I know football though. I have played it, coached it, and i am just throwin my 2 cents out there. I was really hopin he would get a chance to prove me right this year.

Sweet, we've found a way to squeeze some Les Miles-bashing in this thread

you know that had alot to do with playbook, and u dont want to send a stud like that to the wolves. Corners have to maintain their confidence. had he made a ton of mistakes to begin,he would have played more conservative and defeated his own purpose.
ps. he is on pace to be the best football player to come through LSU. jmho

I'm not questioning his judgement on RB's...
I just think before the injury, Richard Murphy was still ahead of Ridley.
Not physically, but game ready.
