What would your factors be in evaluating future LSU QB Recruits?

Here are mine:
Pre-Requisites: 1) Adequate-to-strong Arm with good accuracy, 2) Size/Durability/Stature, 3) Reasonable Mobility, 4) Good footwork, and basic mechanics for throwing, on the run and in the pocket. 5) Good work ethics, game management and leadership skills, 6) Good memory skills and ethics to learn playbook inside and out. In other words, competent-to-strong HS QB play has been demonstrated in film/assessment in actual play.
Bonus Points: 7) Great rocket arm, while retaining all the pre-requisites. 8) Great running and scrambling skills while retaining the pre-requisites.
Note: If the great arm or great running ability does not retain the pre-requisites, then no bonus points are awarded.
Championship Differentiators: 9) Great Composure and Pocket Presence and ability to read the defense (and adjust the play), 10) Field Vision: Capacity to see the whole field 11) Great capacity to go through progressions, with strong "second and third reaction" skills (not someone who is strongly conditioned to a "throw to first read, or run" approach in HS, because that is very difficult to un-strip from an athletic style QB), 12) Great "Coachability", 13) Exemplary Example-setting work ethics, 14) Smart Game Management capability and "football IQ", 15) Another coach on the field effect, 16) "It" factor.

Bring in a contractor, no Miles or Cameron involvement

Character/attitude/work ethic

What else do you need?

A JuCo transfer so that it's harder for him to develop Les and Cam's bad habits as opposed to a high school QB
ETA: Actually any type of transfer whatsoever

A "heady" player, who brings his lunch pail to work. First one in, last one out type player. I'd like a high motor guy, with deceptive speed. A real gym rat with a high IQ. A guy who knows the playbook, a coach's son.

Um it wouldn't matter as much with a great college qb developer..
I just want Miles and Cam gone.
I am sick of having to wait every 4 years before we have a somewhat decent passing game.

good under pressure, accurate passer, moves around in the pocket well, studies film and has respect from his team as a leader

It depends on what the NEXT LSU coach brings in as an offensive mindset. Miles and Cam have been trying to force fit an offensive scheme with the wrong personnel for years. If you need a pro style QB to run your style of offense, recruit one and then play him for goodness sake.

Have they been coached by another college coach before?

A 3rd party service... maybe. That assumes Miles is being objective in his choice of starters.
I'll propose what I think is a step 1 before re-thinking QB recruiting & evaluation (development needs to be re-evaluated right frigging now).
Focus on the improving and evaluation of OL. A good OL can make a decent QB look pretty good, with consistency. A shaky OL can make a very good QB look horrible. Lots of downside, pretty good upside. Also can make up for some, note some, lack of development in a QB.

Realistically, secure commitments from the best players we can get. Adjust the offense accordingly to best utilize their talents.
For an example, see Bama with regard to Jalen Hurts.

First and foremost a brain. A QB that can recognize defense and check in or out of a play, and go through his progressions. Doesn't need to have Elway arm strength but be able to make all the throws when needed. Aka Flynn, Mettenberger, lets hope Etling...

Basic qualities need. Everything else is gravy.

Once dufus is gone hopefully we have an OC that schemes to a QBs strengths so it won't always be a square peg kind of thing

Pocket passer - yes
dual threat - no

Important sure. But Andrew Hatch is probably the smartest QB we've ever had here. Just saying...

PP only. No more DT QBs. We don't utilize DTs so why recruit them.
Posted on 9/21/16 at 11:23 am to TigerBert
White Qbs - as long as Miles and Cameron are here. They destroy black qbs.

Not that I 100% disagree because football is evolving into a quarterbacks game, but you dont get a :once in a genreation" back like LF7 by scheming around the QB's strengths. You get a back like LF7 by saying you are going to run the shite out of the ball.
So if you are going to fault Miles then you might as well fault Fournette.
