Well Matt Canada did all of his shifting bull shite and everyone freaked out And how did that turn out?
Matt canada is a good coach and is currently the Steelers offensive coordinator. His boss was a complete buffoon and Neanderthal

Most here don't know iso from power, zone from man, and emol is a muppet.
But, we know how to do this:

This is what I was thinking - this is what would make me melt down. A toss power isn't flashy, but it generally results in some gain and has a low likelihood of ending up a negative play unless the toss is fumbled.
Man, the Crowton days. I HATED that ridiculous option to the short side.

I would think nothing unusual about it but I go back to the Charley McClendon era.

1st down: toss dive out of power I formation
2nd down: shotgun jet sweep with a bunch of unnecessary shifts by the wide receivers
3rd down: 5 wide, empty backfield pass 5 yards behind line of scrimmage on a 3rd and long.
4th down: fake punt where the punter somehow bounce pass laterals the ball to a TE who throws a bomb for a TD that is called back due to excessive celebration and illegal procedure. LSU challenges some insignificant detail of the play, loses, and is charged a TO.
4th down (again): delay of game followed by a Timeout, then a punt that hits the skycam wire.

I’d love to see BK take advantage of the adrenaline the defense will feel, 1st play of 1st game, and fake that inside run to Emery and throw the slant to Boutte!
When the defense is pumped up, I love a misdirection play, so we can exploit the D's over-pursuit.
Another example is coming off a turnover, a lot of offenses like to throw deep, because the defense might be half a step slow, given the emotional letdown after a turnover.
Good coaches consider these things and adapt in real-time.

I couldn’t care less what the first play is. I’ll be mainly concerned with our ability to move the ball the length of the field and score. Also, I want to see our defense look like they practiced at least a little bit, unlike when they played UCLA

You likely just hate option offense.

Neither...
Maybe what I hated more was that it was so predictable. Ball snapped from the right hash at the 40? TE on the right side of the formation and WR Lined up inside the number? OPTION TO THE SHORT SIDE OF THE FIELD.
