I thought Wendell Davis should have won it. If he was playing in the little 10 or Pac 10, he would have.

More National Champions!

Agree that Championships are more important than individual awards. With that said, if Chad Jones were given the opportunity to have a Woodsen type year and racked up both INTs and TDs as a DB and yards and TDS as a return man and at WR, he would be considered. It would also have to be a down year across the league where there wasn't a clear-cut group of favorites like Tebow, Moreno or White.

Kevin Faulk was no slacker...........
You beat me to it. As an all-purpose back, Kevin Faulk has few peers in SEC history.
People also forget that we had Heisman candidates in Charles Alexander and Tommy Hodson. Jamarcus Russell would have had a shot in 2007, as others have mentioned.
Josh Reed should have been given more Heisman consideration. If any WR can get it, he had a year that warranted it.

Heisman-winning performance from any individual offensive player is most likely going to bode ill for an SEC team with National Championship aspirations. It would take a truly rare specimen to be able to dominate that completely in a consistently successful offense in this league.
I agree that the media/voters are SEC haters(like you said...only 4 SEC winners in 36 years)
Perfect example --> D.McFadden...could you make a better arguement for a truly rare specimen to basically carry his team's entire offense?? I know he got the invite, but he never got the hardware!!

If shep developes into the passer we all hope he will. he might seduce the media into paying attention.
Geaux Tigers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't disagree with that. A 20 TD passes/20 TDs rushing is now a benchmark for a Heisman campaign, and by a sophomore, no less. We know he could easily score 20 TDs as a run first TD in the SEC. The 20 passing under Crowton's offense is certainly possible, if Shep develops into a legitimate mid-range passing threat (which will also open up the running game, if opposing defenses have to worry about conventional runs, QB runs AND a real passing attack, like Texas with VY, or Florida with Tebow.)

Shepard (will) = Heisman

Yea, perfect example since he lost out to....an SEC quarterback.

And the year before?
Posted on 7/19/08 at 1:56 pm to tigerdmb
He lost to the quarterback from the undefeated #1 team in the country (at the time) who threw for 30 touchdowns and 6 intereceptions. Now there would be a good argument if the award was after the bowl season, but it's not.
With that said, I don't understand your point. There was bias is 2006 but not 2007?

What I was saying is that I agree with the bias over the past 30+ years of the SEC...2006 is just a great example...
Nonetheless...just forget it...this thread is dead anyway...

What will it take for LSU to get another Heisman Trophy?
Frankly Hell to freeze over. If Manning & McFadden aren't good enough for the Piesman than who in the world could be? Anyone seen Jason White in the NFL? What a player!!!!

JR would have been this guy his senior year.
JR was the best QB in CFB in 2006, and the heisman trophy winner was a QB, so 2006 coulda been the year

we didn't use RBBC last year and won the title

Good point SlowFlowPro!
JR was a hell of an athlete! I wonder what he would have done with all of the skill we had last year!!
Man it is good to a tiger, Heisman, or no Heisman!

A lot of truth in that. The usual pattern of Setup year, then Heisman year didn't work out. That illustrates the problem with the Heisman popularity contest.
