It's a lot harder to be consistently top 8 in baseball than it is in football.

Right now: Les.

Les has at least shown a willingness to correct problems when they arise.

Hitting and baserunning have been a problem for years. But Mainieri refuses to recognize that.

Meh I'll play devil's advocate here. He realized he made a bad choice is Grewe and made a HUGE improvement there. Our pitching was in the tank there for a while.

You just don't give up do you. And by the way it's way harder to stay in top 8 consistently in football than it is in baseball. There is room for error in baseball. Not very much in football polls unless of course you are Alabama!!

I'll just say this

CPM is the one coach right now in the SEC that has a national championship and the SEC is usually the top baseball conference in the country.

Did everyone forgot what LSU had before CPM came here?

you can easily argue that Les Miles just built off the success of Nick Saban and now that is gone Les can't have the same success. CPM had to rebuild this team from the ashes left by Smoke, pun not intended.

I do think CPM is better than Les. It's at-least a toss up.

Not comparable.

8 teams every year make it to the CWS

10 teams make it to BCS bowl games.

so you have a greater chance of making it to a BCS bowl game in football than the CWS in baseball.

That's a bit of a red herring considering Ray Tanner won 2 in a row just two years ago before becoming the AD at S. Carolina.

Not to mention Miss St was in the title game last year.

Alright, Padre. I've given reason a chance. We're comparing college football to college fricking baseball. It's barely even a serious discussion. I (and probably 99% of other sports fans) didn't realize that there were 302,000 D1 baseball programs because almost no one gives a shite. The best baseball prospects never waste one semester in Human ecology 101 classes. The sport isn't that interesting. No one on ESPN can name the outstanding CBB player from last year (do they have a Heisman equivalent) and no one cares.

That said, LSU is the second best team in the state--at best. When was the last time that could have been said of our football boys?

Yes, very sound reasoning here.

I should clarify that at the time of that post I had given up on reason; hence, the "I've given reason a chance"--though I hadn't to be honest.

Jones is a joke and hasn't accomplished anything to be in this discussion. CPM is a good coach that often thinks too much with aggression and that's his downfall. When you're aggressive, they have plenty of situations where you'll look like a genius or a complete moron. Les is an okay coach that has to be surrounded by amazing assistants to be effective. Les built off Saban's success while CPM came into a bit of mess at LSU. I'd argue the year we went to the Super Regional against SB was CPM's best year coaching considering the circumstances. I agree with the above too, it's much harder to stay in the top 10 in baseball than it is football. We had 1 bad year under CPM and multiple bad/mediocre seasons under Les.

I'm going with CPM.
