Too predictable to go with run first.
Not taking advantage with what works in a situation instead of resorting back to trying to establish a power run offense when it isn't there.

This is also true

Burrow escaping the pocket isnt the same thing.
I only said that because I find it hard to believe that LSU never once reset the pocket over the course of an entire season. I'm not looking through games to verify though.
I'm taking the safe route and using "hardly ever".

We had almost 500 yds vs Georgia

UGA was by far our best offensive performance, and a big outlier.
I dont Get how we can look like that VS UGA and look like we did vs Florida, Arkansas, Auburn or Alabama.

Did Georgias defense "have a pulse?"

Just a comment. There is no denying we looked good vs UGA. My question is how do we look that good vs UGA and as bad as we did in so many other games vs comparable or worse defenses.
We alsonlooked lifeless vs the corpse of an Arkansas Defense.

This has nothing to do with the conversation

Did UGA have a good defense?

The final results are these (Conference Rankings);
7th in passing attempts
11th in passing completion percentage
11th in passing td’s (includes the A&M game). We only had 17 passing touchdowns on the year.
On paper, it doesn’t look good.
The Florida game was poorly executed on offense, constantly pushing long developing plays to the edge. It was so stupid.
The Alabama game. Lol never mind.
Strong end to the year offensively against the Aggies and UCF tho.
I’m not very happy with E. I’m very frustrated that quality offensive names became available and we didn’t even put our name in the hat.
But whatever. I’m not driving the bus.

Our red zone offense was not good even in that game. All of Tracy's FGs were under 40 yards.
We also had a large number of big plays in the game. That is the outlier. Obviously they all count, but it is not something we're going to hit in every game.

I think its relevant to the conversation.
Especially when you’re considering the whole thread is about the offense in general.
But it’s also not a point you want to discuss.
Also 475=\= 500
Or you could argue that a +4 turnover margin gave us more chances to score and more possession with the ball. We had a season high 81 plays. Only ran more vs A&M and that involved 5 OT.
We still only moved the ball at 5.8 ypp, passed for 200 yards, onlymscored 3 TDs and were forced to kick 5 FG.

The red-zone offense is just terrible. We can't call plays hoping for a TD, but really settling for a Tracy FG.
We have to punch the ball in down there. We go Les Miles offense in the red-zone and have all season!

I would like to see more misdirection (bring back the jet sweep for example). Need a higher percentage of plays out the shotgun also.
But my biggest frustration is that in situations like 3rd and 1 or 2nd and 3, (even 4th and 1 occasionally) etc. that we don't throw the ball and take advantage of the situation. We could roll Burrow out for a run pass option or just drop back and throw to the TE on a slant and go for big yardage.

I think we have a decent base offense but it’s kinda vanilla
I wish We had more plays that are designed to get out athletes the ball in space.
We had some good RB passes that worked well in the bowl game.z
Overall I thought It was incouraging

Our red zone offense was so bad this season.

More use of TEs. Hit backs coming out of backfield as they are gaining speed toward the line-I despise lateral passes when back has no momentum. More quick slants in the middle. Role out come back routes on sidelines. Less downfield jump balls on sidelines--good defenders use sidelines well to hem receivers. More high percentage short passes instead of downfield tries when we only need 3 yards for a first down. A few more trick plays in a non important situation just to keep possibilities in back of defenders minds. And originality.

Once inside the 20 the offense stalls we don't attack the end zone. Looks like we either run 3 running plays over and over or try that play action pass to the fullback. Seems like the creativity of the offense disappears.

LSU's offense for years has been completely inept. It is inconsistent, lacks imagination and has little penchant for keep defenses off balance. That combined with 100% incompetent QB play makes it a DC's dream. No one can explain the futility that has become the LSU offense making one wonder if it is not by design.
Orgeron's boner of hiring SE cost LSU losses to UF and TAMU and allowed the Tigers 0 chance to compete with the gumps. I cannot understand why so many (purblind) fans cannot see this, but it is what it is. Anyone who expects different results/effectiveness next year is a fool.'
Sometimes the truth is unpleasant, but the truth is always the truth. Until things at LSU change at the top so far as football is concerned, we will NEVER win another championship. Chew on that Tiger faithful.

That is exactly the point. Until the next recruiting class you can't help an Oline that is getting beat physically.
Uh yes... yes you can. Throw quick passes, hell multiple NFL teams have won the SB recently with frankly horrendous o-lines.
Ok, So I know you don't have time, so I'm going to play man press in your face and jam you off the line. Now you still can't grip it and rip it because the Oline is getting its arse whipped.
You can make all the claims you want about being able to execute plays without an Oline and yes it may happen on and off from series to series, but you can't win like that.
In this thread, we have mostly been using bama as the example. When you talk about Saban, his Dline and Oline are the best or are among the top 3 every single year. That is not up for debate. The best Oline and Dline recruits make the best Oline and Dline players. Saban gets more time than not the BEST. Not no2 or no3. The NO1 player OG, OT, DT, DE. He may not get all of the NO1 players by position but over multiple years he stockpiles.
The Bottom line is you need ELITE line play to beat ELITE lines.

Red zone play calling and going super conservative instead of playing to win when tied or nursing a small lead
