What Scared Me After Tremont's Winning Bucket....

We got caught up in the action and forgot they were out of timeouts and had to hurry up. If they'd had a man down court they had plenty of time for a long pass and decent shot. We stood around.
Yet they panicked, froze up, and drug arse to our advantage.
I am certainly proud of our guys even after having blown a 15 point lead. Seems it happens every game, but hell's bells, we're still in it in spite of Alleva and F. King.
We sure pay Alleva a lot of money to be such a shite head.

I'm not sure exactly what our guys did, but you're right in that the Maryland dude panicked and chucked up a bad shot. He could've easily dribbled and got it closer.

I didn’t get to see the end of the game but heard it on the radio. I’m just happy we won but I added a few gray hairs.

Yeah, that 1.6 seconds was kinda trippy. They didn’t have a timeout thank goodness, and even the best of coaches know you’ve pretty much thrown your entire wad at defending the go ahead score.
I think it’s unreasonable to think you can both coach the defense of the score and also “...oh, by the way, if they do score and we have between 2.5 & 2.6 seconds, do..” whatever. As for LSU, just don’t foul or do anything to raise suspicion or give the refs a chance to call anything, ANYTHING!
All that being said, the heave from the Maryland guy was pretty damn accurate. Fleeting thought that went through my head was: “kareening off the top of the backboard and I think the shot clock, if that ball magically finds the hoop on the last descent...!
Usually the refs waive off shots that go over the backboard like that, but I didn’t see any jesters to that effect.
