cue "we run a crap offensive scheme" hahaha

I've always thought of Crowton as a sort of spread/misdirection guy but I really don't know how to categorize our offense. It seems like our offense is sort of spread/power I hybrid. We seem to utilize a lot of spread formations, but run power I plays and utilize power I backs. Obviously Les is a Big 10 guy....it makes sense. This seems to highlight the weaknesses in each approach (slower power backs with light/quick linemen)

It seems like we're trying to put power backs in finesse roles. Our O-line is built more on quickness and speed - yet we pretty much start fullbacks at tailback position to grind it out.

I get pissed at Miles, but I fully admit he has forgotten more about football than the Rant knows (collectively). What is the logic here?

Bingo

Ridley
Scott
Hester
Broussard
Vincent

All fb players, in a rb role.

Les likes big backs to run up the guy or off tackle. It's big 10 football.

multiple

it's hard to describe, b/c we run just about everything

single back, i-form pro sets

spread

spread option

but no wildcat, which is a head scratcher

Right, but why don't we recruit corn-eating 330 lb guys from Nebraska if we're going with a big 10 style running attack?

this is a great question

we have NO identity on offense which by year 4 you would think Crowton would have been able to establish at least something especially with the skill players we have

Yeah - I'm not trying to Bash Miles or Crowton. But I can't help but wonder if our offense is just a set of half measures: A collection of compromises b/tw the head coach and O-coordinator.

I'm all for the 'multiple' concept, but it seems like we are the jack of all trades but master of none.

I don't see what exactly you are complaining about considering Brussard and Vincent are really Saban players that had their success while he was here (Seriously, Broussard did not have basically any significant playing time for Miles and Vincent may have started for Miles but Addai and Williams contributed significantly more while he was playing for Miles) and Scott and Hester both had 1000+ yard seasons so wtf are you complaining about.

c'mon man. even after he gained weight, no one considered JV a power back/ FB type. Patrick Willis sure as hell didn't.

Saban was better at evaluating offensive line tallent which I find funny because Les is an "offensive line guy"
