Why would we feel disconnected with the rest of the state?

Excluding Boisie State the Sun Belt is very comparable to Wac. I wouldnt be surprised if a few of those west coast teams bail out becauseof the travel expense to Ruston louisiana. By the way, I was told the crowd for the Ind. bowl was closer to half of what you expressed by a techie who went to the game. Even if 42000 is accurate, thats not to impressive since it was in your back yard.

I've been told by many people that live in north louisiana that people in south louisiana treat them like they are not apart out the state and feel largely ignored historically in regards to state government especially on the university level claiming that south louisiana schools such as LSU have always benefited from state funding and support and La tech is short changed.

Hey Einstein, look at LSU's roster through the years and the kids from N. La. on there. Do you really feel that N. La. feels jealous or disconnected? Hopefully your statement was sarcasm and not dumbazzism..
eta: speaking from not a La. Tech fan, but someone originally from N. La.

I agree. There were probably 42,000 tickets sold but there couldn't have been that many at the game. What probably hurt was the game being on a 'work night'. I took vacation though and wouldn't have missed it for the world. It was a great moment for the Tech Bulldogs. In my eyes, that would've been like saying......."Ah, I don't feel like wasting a vacation day to see the Berlin Wall come down so I'll just watch the highlights on the news later."

Dooley has Tech set up for some good years ahead!

North Louisiana is generally split with Ruston west Tech fans and Ruston east ULM fans. Techs biggest problem is its lack of market in Ruston. I can also guarantee you that the standard for entering Tech is not close to the ACT score needed to enter LSU. I havent researched the tier system sited in the earlier post but have to declare that as BS based on the entry standards of both schools. The bottom line is that Tech is a wannabe be school that has not achieved any appreciable advantage over any other state school despite its snub of them . It is no better than 3rd best behind LSU and Tulane even in its "majical" year and very often behind in the other schools in many sports. Year in and year out ULM and ULL are better in baseball. Since Tech will not play in basketball or football we are left to guess.

I was at the game and there probably was around 40K+, Shreveport area has one of the largest concentration of Tech alumni next to Dallas and Houston

Right. There's a difference between "attendance" z(on the one hand) and paid admission" or "paid attendance" on the other , the latter term being the one used by the I Bowl to mislead.
It was 42,000 "paid admission", not nearly that many people in the stands(even at 42k that 's nothing to brag about, unless you are Tech).
Many of the paid corporate ticket holders didn't bother to attend because the matchup was so puny.
Sorry, but if you wnat to convince someonethat Tech is not a small penis entry, you need to use some example other than the I Bowl.

Tech's stadium only holds 30K, so why wouldn't 42K be anything to be proud of?

O.K. then, everyone in the state government acts like LSU is the only program who deserves to get the most money.

OK, now how in the hell can the state give more than one school the most money?

This is why most state schools and Lsu alum pull for the State schools when given the chance. If there is any envy as this thread has suggested it is simply one sided by a very few wannabe Tech alumni and admin. who refuse to play other state schools.
