You would get treated like shite if you even think about wearing a LSU shirt around campus, especially when Tech plays LSU on gameday. I think some of you can understand that, imagine someone wearing an Ole Miss shirt around LSU

I was talking about Tech students wearing LSU shirts

From what I remember students wore apparel of conference rivals all the time when I was a student at LSU in the mid 90s . (UF, Tenn, Ala, AU, OM)

Tech fans and the people of Ruston always THOUGHT they were better than everyone and they had no reason to think it. They are irrelevant outside of Ruston, La and much like ULaLa are just jealous of LSU and their fans. If a team comes to play La Tech in Ruston, they have to go the Monroe Airport and then bus over 30 miles to get there.

"...I have been a tiger fan all my life...."
You are like me...I grew up listening to LSU football on WWL and I was a Tiger fan at bout 6. It would not have mattered to me where I went to college cause I was a LSU fan for 12 yrs before I picked a school and I was going to remain an LSU fan.
Where any of us go to college is a personal choice and not the business of anyone else. This stuff bout you shouldn't go to LSU if you are a Tech fan or you shouldn't go to Tech if you are a LSU fan is little more than BS. imo

I concur with Lonnie4LSU. Where you go to school is a personal choice; it doesn't necessarily affect what school you are a sports fan of. I have been a Tiger fan all my life and I went to Tech. La Tech is a great school. It just sucks for athletics. I went to the Tech games when I went there. I cheered for the Bulldogs.
But when it comes to the LSU vs. Tech matchups, my colors are purple and gold.
LSU is the state school.

. In fact, i think many LSU pull for Tech in many games when they are not facing each other.
True, I do pull for them and they have had some major upsets. Now ULL I pull against in EVERYTHING.

There has never been a heated rivalry contest between the schools in any sport.
Also, you have the whole issue that they probably resent LSU's flagship status when they are a "better" school.

"...imagine someone wearing an Ole Miss shirt around LSU"
If I'm secure enough in myself/my school, why should I care if someone wears an Old Miss shirt around LSU? I never have understood the importance some place on what others wear. Personally, I have enough trouble taking care of my own business where I have little interest/time to spend worrying over personal choice issues of others such as dress on campus or anywhere else.
Not that you can't/shouldn't worry bout anything you want to, I just don't get the need to myself...but each to our own.

No....I don't treat anyone like shite for their team affiliation. So I don't understand, and that really isn't an explanation for the dislike. It just explains how you target them.

O.K. then, everyone in the state government acts like LSU is the only program who deserves to get the most money. Picture this, if there is a program struggling to survive, and LSU was adding on to their stadium, the state would help LSU out before the struggling program

I was there when the Lady Techsters were a top bball program, and LSU's women bball was on the rise. It wasn't real bad (the hatred, the first year or so)beacuse they always had the "Lady Techsters are better", but to me womens bball is and organized game of keep-a-way.
I do find that more of the northern natives are the die hard Tech fans that hate LSU. The further south you come, I belive the hatred tends to slack off or completely vanish.

LSU/LaTech =/= LSU/Ole Miss in terms of rivalry.

Techsters are on their way back to the top of the basketball elite, since they replaced their coach at midseason with Teresa Weatherspoon they went 10-2 after being 12-11

So basically:
Being the flagship university means more than just symbolic names.
And I don't think the state helps with any athletic improvements/projects.
