But using those numbers is a little lazy on your part.

Lazy? I said it's a guideline, and a useful one. For instance in the clubs NC years we finished 31 and 26. Over last 5 years we've finished 55, 112, 86, 86 and 85. Obviously the club has won a lot of games, and a CC...but you don't see a correlation between a much better O and taking that final step of an NC?

Depends on the agenda.

There's really nothing wrong with LSU's philosophy, tactically though, it's a mess. They rely way too much on winning one-on-one match-ups and don't employ enough scheme to create advantages for playmakers.

2nd hf we did ok against Georgia but in 8 qtrs we scored 9 PTA against Bama. With a better offense( ranked b/w 30th and 60th) we may be the 2 time defending champs right now.

No doubt.

I watched LSU play Townson and this offense was just bad. Early in the year, first few games the running game was clicking but it went downhill from there, particularly after the competition developed a pulse.

But then we watched them play Bama in Nov. and they looked great. So can turn it on occasionally??

Of course I do, and the point of this thread is not me saying we have been good or efficient on offense. Simply that many people on here are trying to make things seem worse than they are by overweighting those very statistics.

We all saw the anomaly that was the Bama game, and know it can be done. Except with the game on the line..apparently.

LSU offense relies on superior talent beating lesser competition and it doesn't always work. We all saw that LSU can run an effective offense for one game though.

You can't claim talent is the problem. It's a deplorable scheme that doesn't do anything to help individual players in their matchups.

I tend to agree with your assessment. But it is hard to tell. When I watch the replays, the designs of the plays seem ok. We have the same route trees I see other teams run. I see us run basically the same plays that Bama is running.

Many, many times this year it appeared that the proper play was called in regards to what the defense was giving, but the plays always seemed to go awry. Missed blocks, dropped passes, misreads by both QB and recievers, bad throws and hesitancy from Mett...so I can see what CLM is talking about when he blames it on execution.

So if it IS mainly an execution issue, then who gets most of the blame? Are the coaches not coaching well enough, or are the players just not doing as they are taught? Pretty impossible to tell from where I sit.

Doesn't really matter who is to blame though, ultimately if your team fails to execute enough, it is always the COACH who is fired eventually. And then the mouth breathers can celebrate and say "I told you so"!

Well, you have your opinion and I am not gonna try any more to convince you of anything. If you can't see the offense for what it is, not sure no amount of reality will change your mind.

You might know more than some people fat boy, but you don't know more than me. You need to go check out the buffet and let us "experts" hash things out. And clean the twinkie crumbs off your keyboard while you are at it.

Are you watching coaching film? You rarely get to see the routes of each receiver on a broadcast.

Actually the CST replays are the ones I use to critique and they do a pretty good job of using a wide angle so that you often get a great look at both the full secondary and the routes run against it. As long as I can see both safeties at the snap I'm happy I'm seeing an accurate picture of the play.
