You gotta have a touchdown drive to save your life...against a big time SEC defense....who's offense do you want on the field?
Not LSU's. Couldn't get a first down to ice a game on several occasions.
You don't need an explosive offense. You do need one that can turn it on when necessary. We have neither.

He is trying to tell you that our offense is ranked so its a good thing.

I just use this. It's just a guideline. If we finish in 70's and 80's consistently, it definitely shows an issue.
Of course we want to be better and more efficient on offense. But using those numbers is a little lazy on your part. For instance, in those rankings, Alabama is 31st. Are there really 30 other offenses you would take before you take Bama's offense?
Bama's offense is not 31st it is first. Why? Because the level of athlete they put on the field makes sure their offense can never be overwhelmed by a team with superior athletic ability. Just like LSU. Oregon for instance, has a great offense, but when faced with team with superior athletes they slow way down.
Point being, there are not 70 or 80 teams with better offenses than LSU's. Not even close!

With their defense? Hell no. Without their defense? Hell yeah.

Good lord almighty.

If you factor in the caliber of athlete on LSU's team it may be the worst.

I disagree, I think that is EXACTLY the kind of offense we have. Not explosive, but turns it on when necessary, just a couple of games fewer than we would like.
How can I say this you ask? Because our current offense with our current OC in place, has won 85% of our games. A win rate that would satisfy every fan base but ours and Bama's.
Stud has gone 14-2 in SEC games and 0-2 in bowl games...and of course it is the "0-2" that is causing all the hysteria.

Would we be that good with a defense ranked 87th? And what would be the "true" rank of our defense right now? #1?

Man, this is going to be a bizarre offseason.

Nope you are completely missing the point. For instance, these are just a few of the teams ranked ahead of LSU in STATS...
Rice,Purdue, Kent state, Marshal, Navy, Notre Dame, Akron, Army, Virgina, Central Michigan, Wester Michigan, San Diego State, UAB.....I have about 40 more teams on this list, including 3 other state schools. So pretend you are playing Alabama, and they aren't sleep walking through the game, they are UP for you like they are when they play us....you would really take any of those offenses over ours?

Well without being all silly about it, how else would you describe a team that just seems to get by on offense. We are winning games at a high rate, tied for 1st in conference wins since Stud took over. So how do you do that without having an offense that isn't opportunistic occasionally?

I agree with you that offense and defense have to work hand in hand. The offense has not carried a fair share of the load this year...especially in the red zone. At least last years offense cashed in on nearly every opportunity the defense gave it.

Nah, I get your point but it's just off.
I watched LSU play Townson and this offense was just bad. Early in the year, first few games the running game was clicking but it went downhill from there, particularly after the competition developed a pulse.

Our O isn't good enough. I need nothing else.

As bad as we can look, even at our best, there are not 50 teams better on offense than we are. Pretend you are playing a fired up Florida team or a fired up Bama team...name the 50 teams that can actually move the ball on them better than us.
Well shite, if we need an offense that can't move the ball against the best Defenses, well I suppose we are in good shape....debate ovah.

2nd hf we did ok against Georgia but in 8 qtrs we scored 9 PTA against Bama.
With a better offense( ranked b/w 30th and 60th) we may be the 2 time defending champs right now.

If you want to believe strongly enough, you can convince yourself of anything, I suppose. He seems to have done just that.
