Good point, Saturday was the second time this year that the entire D looked defeated very early and seemed to checkout. They have no faith in what we’re doing.

I think the issue is multifaceted. We have guys that aren’t winning one on one matchups that also don’t understand the calls/checks, and therefore can’t do their jobs.
When people aren’t on the same page and you have most of the defense run one coverage and then one or two guys do something else it causes mistrust. So now instead of 11 guys doing their job, you have 11 guys wondering if the the other 10 guys are doing what they are supposed to and the result is guys out of position.
On top of that you add in the players being unable to actually do their jobs whether it be winning one on one matchups, covering WRs, or just fricking fitting correctly in the run game and you get disaster.
Our guys can’t tackle because they consistently lose the edge and now instead of hitting a guy in a 2 foot box, you have to get him in the open field. On top of that we circle back to the players not being very good.
The only thing I am truly shocked about is how bad the DL is. They got pushed around by an OM OL that Tulane embarrassed.

When you this bad it is combination of few real players and coaching. Coaches can’t tackle for you.

Losing Greg Brooks can’t be overstated. But, the fact House can’t seem to coach up what he’s got is extremely disturbing.

the combination of mediocre talent and terrible scheme for these players

Coaching and scheme. I think it's obvious things need to be simplified. Also the coaching needs to improve on that side of the ball. The players have not developed good habits and it shows.

Wrap up, tackle, wrap up, tackle!

LSU defense was not in condition to play Saturday. Miss. kept all 11 of their offense players in on every down not ever substituting so LSU could not substitute. It was a good plan by Miss.

Smith is not a NG, he’s an upfield player. That’s a big change a lot of fans don’t realize with Smith.
Yeah, this was always dumb.
He is really more of a big end.

No pass rush on QB, putting more pressure on DB. Getting out of their lanes not staying in the rush lanes. Bad tackling. DB'S not staying on their man.

I wonder if anyone really pushing them to get better or if they don’t just go through the motions on defense in practice. They look like they don’t know how to tackle, DL can’t get off blocks. Probably what happens when an Analyst steps in.
also none of the DBs look like they’ve ever played zone, ever get their head around to find the ball, or have been through a tackling drill

Tackling, and being out of position.
25 tackles or more were missed the other night. While I think Matt House is doing a bad job right now he can't make the tackle for the defense.
Alot of plays the defense was in the right position but just whiffs on the tackle. That isn't Matt House fault.
DLine being out of position all night. Not holding the edge on the stretch play.
If we coule clean up those two things I think we would be much improved

We had about 1000 missed tackles
Yeah there were so many times when a defender was in position to make the play and just slid off the ball carrier. So that’s on the player and not a scheme issue.

On the micro level sure, but when multiple players do it across the field it is indicative of a greater problem with how they're being coached.

Yes. We don’t have the level of athleticism we normally have and the are poorly coached. The effort doesn’t seem to be there

Tackling is abysmal. Seemed like every big break by OM featured at least 3-4 missed tackles in the first 5-10 yards.

I think it’s partially up to coaching to create and find a leader. Whit Weeks seems like he has the energy to be a leader, but he isn’t a starter. However, he should be a starter considering he is the only one who can tackle besides Perkins.
