What else is there to watch? I can't believe how many of you are down on Espn. It is by far the best sports station! There on air personalities are amazing! I didn't hear anyone bitching about Espn with all the scam newton stuff. So you like Espn until they say something anti Lsu then you hate them. Espn has done more to advance the national reputation of Lsu than any other entity. Think about gameday, think about the sportscenter highlights after an Lsu win? Tell me you don't watch sportscenter back to back just to see the fake fg against Fla one more time.

quote:You might try explaining that to, say, every television "journalist" in the United States. There's hasn't been a news show on television that wasn't at least half entertainment since before Cronkite hung up his mike. And now more people get their "news" from The Daily Show than CBS News, and from each of those more than a newspaper. And if we had some way of reliably measuring it, I'd bet even more people rely on blogs and random websites for their "current events" news.
That's like saying entertainment is news. It's just not
But when network news shows are devoting time to American Idol updates -- ones that aren't even airing the freaking show -- then the entire concept of television "journalism" has jumped the shark.

Nowhere does that link contain a statement from Peterson that he never visited A&M. It contains a statement by the author based on a conversation he had with a radio guy who said he had had a conversation with Peterson -- a statement that the radio guy (the author's source in the first place) later contacted him to clarify because it did not reflect what he actually said. I don't know what Peterson's credibility is, the credibility of the site you linked is about zero on this story.

quote:There wasn't much reason to post on here often (this site tends to be a bore-hole during the season . . . and mostly during the offseason), but when I did comment on that story it typically included a general indictment of journalism in the modern era, specifically sports journalism (and including ESPN).

They are full of shite whenever they believe it will boost ratings. They seem to have a very slight fear that a general loss of credibility will hurt their ratings (thus they show some indignation when their "integrity" is challenged), but not enough to actually influence their decision making. They will pump up LSU anytime they think it will boost ratings, and trash LSU anytime they think it will boost ratings. And the same is true for every other team, coach, athlete, subject, whatever, and it absolutely 100% trumps any degree of accuracy or inaccuracy in the story.

UPDATED APRIL 1 @ 4:27 p.m. ET: We received an email a short time ago from Jordy Culotta regarding a clarification Peterson made in a follow-up text message conversation. Here’s the email, sans commentary from us.
Good afternoon John -
Wanted to clarify your story about Peterson denial . Peterson told me over the phone he never visited A&M officially, but sent a text message over after our conversation confirming he unofficially visited the first weekend of August in 2007.
Doesnt appear to be a lie or contradiction at all. If anything, it's these reporters that need to get thier stories straight.
ETA: I would like to know whether that friend of his father was actually Will Lyles.

ESPN does not hate LSU. Y'all are full of crap.
Just the other day, Cowherd was talking about teams that just step up to the plate and play their best when you least suspect/expect it. Cowherd called out LSU football as being the team that saved their best game for their biggest game. He specifically mentioned the arse whoopin' we put on OU and OSU in the NC game....and our bowl record.

the problem is PP claimis he had no invlovement with Lyles and said he didnt visit A&M when in fact he claims in 2007 he had a great visit with them. lies on top of lies don't help. Ask Tressel. It is someitmes better to keep your mouth shut than add fuel to the fire.
Official visit vs. Unofficial visit.
Reading comprehension is your friend.

quote:"journalist integrity" and "ESPN" do not belong in the same sentence.
So my question is this, why, in any source of journalist integrity, would ESPN break this story of PP without any substantiation of what was being said?
ESPN is the National Enquirer of sports. They publish crap cause it gets attention, not because it's true.
