What is ESPN's Deal?

I know there is a contingent of people who think ESPN hates LSU. I really think it is more of them liking 3-4 programs in each sport and then not really changing with the times. Regardless, I quit watching ESPN because of all their BS.
So my question is this, why, in any source of journalist integrity, would ESPN break this story of PP without any substantiation of what was being said? The same thing happened with Miles and Herbstreit. Why is this continuing to happen?
If I was Alleva, I would write a letter demanding an apology for both situations. Also, I would say this apology would have to open and close every sportscenter broadcast for a full day.

I don't know
I do know their thing on Les and oversigning was a 100% smear campaign.

There's your answer.
Where in Entertainment and Sports Programming Network does it say "Journalism" or even "News"?
They want eyeballs because eyeballs = $ to advertisers.
I don't understand how anybody thinks journalism should apply to sports anyway. That's like saying entertainment is news. It's just not, it's entertainment. Apologies to Mr. Sheen.

not a letter?
look, for every story the put out early that is wrong from their sources, there are hundreds that year, from the same sources, that are right. that's the way the business works. when everybody does sports now, you have to be the first to break it.
espn doesn't hate lsu. like it or not, we're a small market team. the polls love us, that's all that matters.

ESPN is worthless, especially Sports Center. Sports Center use to just play highlight after highlight with a few short game analysis. It would also play the same thing for several hours. You could start watching it at 8:15 and watch it until 9:15 and you saw everything. Now it is just a few highlights and a shite load of worthless talking heads. They show a few highlights and then talk about the main story forever. Then they show some hightlights and do Sports Center right now and talk about the exact same thing they already talked about for another 15 minutes. Watch ESPN News they don't talk about worthless shite they just show highlights.

PP is possibly #1 pick in draft. If he sneezes, its news-worthy.

It's not just you so forgive me, but you people love when other programs get sanctioned and the whip cracked on them, but when something comes out about LSU you get all defensive with the "well that can't be true" attitude.

Espn does not hate Lsu. If they did theu would never feature les miles in a commercial. Espn is the most entertaining thing on tv. Just because they run 1 story you think there garbage. When we win a game how many millions of people see the highlights? It's free advertising, I have no problem with them running the story. And I believe the guy they interviewed. It wasn't Lsu doing anything wrong it was the slimy handler trying to make some side cash for the strip clubs.
I know John Anderson quite well and while he is not a fan of les miles he does respect the job he has done at Lsu and thinks les runs a very clean program!

I guess they figure that if they throw enough crap against the wall eventually something has to stick.

Are you serious? Journalism! You talk about sources, this and that, but it is just entertainment.
Regardless of whether or not it is "Journalism," they still are responsible for the messages they put out there and potentially slanderous material. Don't give me that shite that Joe Schad or any other of these drones don't do investigative reporting that is shitty at best. You do an investigation and your information is dead wrong, you typically lose credibility.

the problem is PP claimis he had no invlovement with Lyles and said he didnt visit A&M when in fact he claims in 2007 he had a great visit with them. lies on top of lies don't help. Ask Tressel. It is someitmes better to keep your mouth shut than add fuel to the fire.

when we win the nc game, no one has a problem with that story running over and over.
or, on the day of the nc game last year, the lead in story all morning long was, "les miles to stay at lsu." bet no one had a problem with that.

Like I said I don't really watch ESPN.
Here's the article and video of the story. At first I didn't realize that Van Malone sat down for an interview.

quote:this - the report on Miles going to Mich was Herbie not vetting his source, the thing on PP - it's this guy Lyles throwing shite and hoping it will stick. ESPN is after ratings.
