No. The 24 and 23 is only the games that we were losing at any point in the fourth quarter. We must have lost some overtime games that the opponant did not lead at any point in the fourth.

Yeah - will have to check. We were up on Arky in '08 too.

It was 21-21 at the end of 3Q in '07 and we lost that one.

Yes, the 24-23 record is trailing at any point in the 4th.

The 24-23 record is games that we lost while trailing at some point in the fourth quarter. So we could have had the lead going in, lost it, and gotten it back, like against Florida. So do you want to count that as a win for what you're asking about?

The title of the thread asks the record when leading going into the 4th

Sounds like it's only OT losses then (didn't trail in the 4th).

At that point 78-3 is really meaningless.

One of them was Clemson who took their first "lead" of the 4th after time expired. We were not up on Arkansas in 2007, we tied them in the last minute.

The other losses when we didn't trail were Kentucky in '07 and Tennessee in '05.

Amazing that LSU has been losing close to 50 times when going into the 4th quarter. Just imagine their record if they decided to show up before the 4th.

How many times do you think other elite programs have been trailing over the last 10 seasons?

No, ESPN got it wrong.

That would take more work. I thought the 24-23 was when losing going into the 4th, but it's losing at any point in the 4th (which covers all losses except losing in OT).

I just went through all the box scores since 05 really quick and I came up with 83-7 when tied or leading going into the 4th. The losses are:

Tennessee 05, Kentucky 07, Arkansas 07, Arkansas 08, Alabama 09, Ole Miss 09 and Clemson 12

Wow! That's even more impressive that we have not lost a lead or tie in the 4th since 2009.

People always looking to find the dark cloud. Look at the other teams in the top 5 (of % wins when trailing in the 4th). some pretty good teams there, and the number of games in which they trailed in the 4th quarter is comparable--some more some less, but all in the general vicinity.
