And that is the most frustrating part: QB play still costing LSU.

If you wrote a book on QB coaching, evaluation, recruiting goodness-of-fit for your system, and development of the player after arriving on campus....I'm not sure a program could do it more poorly than LSU the last decade. Think also, ZERO of the QB issues were due to injury.

If you're going to play a Saban coached Bama you need all the weapons you can muster.....including a dual threat QB.

Absolutely untrue.

The game on Saturday was proof. LSU didn't lose because Etling can't run. LSU lost because they left about 200 yards of passing on the table due to overthrows, underthrows, and drops.

can you send me some of what you are smoking?

Lol. The wildcat? You mean the package that pretty much every team in the country utilizes to some degree nowadays?

Yep. I'm sure it's that zany wildcat package that makes Saban tear his hair out.

People refer to the dual-threat QB as being necessary to beating them because of D.Watson, Manziel, Chad Kelly, C.Newton, Nick Marshall, etc.

We had a gameplan that Saban mentioned in his postgame presser that is extremely difficult to prepare for and defend because it requires discipline from the players. I think he compared it to the wishbone.

So yes, you don't need a running QB if your offensive system has rushing threats from more than just one position, but one thing that is true and has ALWAYS been true even when Saban was at LSU. He puts his CBs in man coverage on an island so if you have a QB that is accurate and physical WRs who can beat their man, then that is a huge advantage because he needs to be successful in man coverage to beat teams. It's also why those years he didn't have any pass rushers were problems for them too because the CBs eventually can't guard a WR for too long in single coverage as a play breaks down.

I agree completely, LSU can beat them with a good QB with escapability like Brennan in an offensive system like ours with rushing threats all over the field.

A few plays had gone the right way and LSU had a darned good chance of winning that game.

Don’t think it’s celebrating just acknowledging the fact of improvement. If you can’t do that I feel sorry for your miserable life. Negative Nancy.

Yea, we're not as shitty as when we got blown out by state and lost our homecoming to Troy. Woohoo.

if only we had a bad arse like you on the team.

Don't be such a horse's behind. No one is "glad" LSU "only" lost by 14. After the Troy game they might have won by 40.

If you can't see any improvement in the last 4 games you are indeed an idiot.

True but they do anything fancy from the wildcat.

It was a straightforward run between tackle and guard.

NOBODY thought Williams was gonna throw it.

I think what some people are annoyed about is the bar set for improving from was record-setting low. Worse than it was under the staff we just fired. So did we improve? Yes. We are now a 3-loss team. Unranked. Irrelevant in the college football world. And we're excited about a 14 point loss where the winning team actually took a knee instead of making it 21 points.

I realize fans want to find some good and some rays of hope moving forward but it's still a very real possibility that O is way over his head and fighting back and "improving" from losses may become the norm. Am I just a miserable fan? Quite possibly. But this is not what we signed up for. I hope it gets better but there's a great possibility it won't.

We dug out of a hole that we dug ourselves into. I guess I thought we got rid of Miles so that we could win championships.

This team is on the upswing even though we lost, i haven’t been optimistic about any Miles coached team after losing to Alabama but i can get behind this one, we finally have coaches that can develop a quarterback with a scheme of misdirection that tricks linebackers, all that needs to happen is development of Brennan and Narcisse fluently into this system for them to beat Alabama, believe it

They simply lined up and ran the LSU offense. If you would've told a Bama fan before the game that LSU would rush for 150 yards (really 180 yards if you subtract the losses from sacks), they would've laughed at you.

That offense created several opportunities that unfortunately LSU just didn't capitalize on.
This was the most pleasant surprise I had. We had some chances to make this a very close game.

Sack Hurts on that scramble, avoid the pick, and hit Chark in stride and this thing was there for the taking.
