Let’s say he goes 10-3 the next 3 seasons.

Doesn’t beat bama but doesn’t lose to anymore Sunbelt teams

Recruiting classes are top 10.

Offense is like in the 50s

How long does O have of decent but not championship football?

Do let his contract expire? Keep him around as a good steward of the program till Saban retires?

I kinda see this being the case. Good teams but I dont See O outcoachinf Bama anytime soon.

That’s basically what got Les fired

But doing that will far exceed expectations in my opinion. I’ll be pleasantly surprised

when Joe Alleva leaves, the next AD will have Ed Orgeron ready to be pushed out the door, especially if Tiger Stadium isn't packed.

There aren’t many.

But that’s sorta the point. Do we keep him around and just ride out Saban? Or try someone else?

No sense. Let the contract ride out. No reason to be paying 2 buyouts plus a new coach.

I see no point in keep changing coaches just because they can’t beat Saban. Looks bad on the universty, administration, and recruiting. At that point, no established coach will want to come here knowing he has to beat Saban or he’s out.

Didn’t that get Miles canned?

O is a failure as a HC. It’s a proven.

They would keep him around but if he wins at that level then Aranda is most certainly to move on because that would mean our defense has been really successful. Do you really think Orgeron will be able to do anything correctly with coaching hires?

Watching Orgeron fire Cam Cameron, promote Ensminger to interim-OC, then hire Canada, then fire Canada after 1 year, and then promote Ensminger again, the chances of what you are describing are slim to none that he can maintain success with coaching changes.

So we just stick with average to further support a bad hire? Fun! That will energize the fan bases.

Never hire unqualified and undermining!

Fire Alleva and the problems will begin to solve....

It's not complicated!!!

If LSU is 11-1 every year then that’s going to get you bog bowls and ofcasional playoffs. That’s good enough for any coach at any time at LSU. OP is about losing to Bama and 2 other teams every season. You can say it’s about the Bama loss (which would be highly annoying) but it’s really about he other two games.

The other losses are really the reason Miles was canned. His record against the SEC in his last 4 years was something terrible like 14-10 right? That's where you have to make a change if you aren't beating the top program AND you no better than middle of the pack, what are you clinging to?

Honestly, that's a small step up from what got Les fired--a solid offense and a floor on wins/losses.

That'd be a let-the-contract expire situation to me. Keep some continuity, let the recruiting stay good, then quietly move on to the next coach when the time comes. That keeps the hysteria down and the transition as smooth as possible.

Edited.

Then you fire him.

Les was fired for continually going 9-3/10-2

You don’t pay 10 million dollars to fire someone to remain the same.

10 win seasons will buy him 5 years and then he’ll need some sort of title.
