Arizona shot horrifically from downtown that game if memory serves. Chris Mills may have hit their only 3. They do a better job in that dept and they win. Without Shaq they would have beaten us double-digits, because a year later, even with Shaq, they did.

Shaq's coming out party with no more Chris Jackson. They had 3 solid bigs to our lone Shaq. He destroyed them.

The 91 team overachieved. The 92 team underachieved. They had all of the tools, but they just could not hit FT's as a team. Outside shooting was terrific with Caeasar, Mo, and Justin Anderson otb. Rebounding was a fughettabout it with Shaq and Vernel and Boudreaux off bench...Jamie Brandon was one of the greatest rebounding guards I have seen.

This is one video. There are others but they are all low quality since it was 1990. VHS lol.

Go to about 1:46:10 of the video for the cabbage patch.

My junior year. Man, we had a fun basketball program back then. It was a welcomed sight as Mike Archer was busy dismantling our football program.

Offshoot from these memories is that we seemed to wear gold at home a lot. Now, I don’t think we even have a gold uni. We need to bring those back- even if it’s for just a few, big games.

Griggs was an absolute defensive stud. That guy could lock down anybody. Little know fact- I went on a double date with him once. His date was Thai. CSB.

I remember he led the country in steals. He and his brother were Ferriday superstars at the dunk contests back there.

Damn I miss Keith Jackson. Hearing his voice meant it was a huge college matchup.

Did Griggs even go to classes while at LSU?

Went to USL after that season with us. Would’ve been a huge loss defensively but Clarence Ceasar stepped in and almost matched his steals production.

Spin off post....did Shaq ever shatter a backboard while at LSU? I remember he dunked and the goal collapsed.

Dang if Shaq had learned to make free throws consistently, I think we would have sniffed a National Championship one year. That was when "Hack-a-Shaq" was born.

It was actually his Shaq de Shaq dance .

The most memorable moment of the game came in the final seconds when Shaq threw down a dunk and did a dance that would infamously become known as the “Shaq-de-Shaq
