Peyton Manning to Eddie Kennison, David LaFleur(1st team all american in 96) and Larry Foster would have been big so i'm going with Peyton. Throw Kevin Faulk in there and LSU would have dominated any SEC defense.

The thing is, Larry Foster would have been the third or fourth WR at best for Tennessee those years. Eddie Kennison and Lafleur were only together in 95, and Lafleur wasn't any kind of weapon that year. (Although Wilson was a pretty good WR too.)

Peyton Manning would have been better than Herb Tyler in 95, no doubt, but by 96 Herb was running the LSU offense and talent as well as could have been expected from any QB.

would you like to have been a TIGER the most?

I got to go with Elvin Hayes.

Could you imagine "The Big E" at forward, Maravich at guard, maybe throw Don Chaney at the point..............I think there would be one or two fewer banners hanging in Westwood.

For you old timers..

Johnny Hector of New Iberia.

He was the top running back in La. and went to Texas A.M. Then went on to a long career in the NFL with the Jets. I coached him back in the day. He was a great kid.

Remember him well. He was football's version of Howard Carter......The player you just kept hearing about with an almost legendary reverence even then.

If I remember correctly , they were (New Iberia) beaten by the undefeated Lee High team with Albert Richardson and Eugene Daniels in the first round in '78.

Still doesn't explain how Dale Brown missed out on him.

Your answer is in your statement. Dale Brown missed out on Keith Smart who lived right next door to the university and played HS ball at McKinley.

Dale Brown had John Williams at the time. One of the top recruits in the country coming out of high school and helped LSU go to the Final 4.

I always wondered personally how we could have done with Major Applewhite back there.

I forgot about him. Grades i think. He enrolled at a JUCO in Kansas, Coffeyville I believe, and played for 2 years and then went to Auburn. Played behind Cadillac and Brown and they were gonna make him a LB so he transferred to Southern Illinois

How about Antwain Jamison and Alana Beard? Both were real good at UNC and Duke respectively. Would Jonathan Papelbon count as well?

He said this on National Television in '06 when him and Howie Long were the commentators for the Sugar Bowl vs. Notre Dame.
