I know you don't hate JJ, but are afraid for Lee.
I think he is afraid of what most of us are afraid of, that we go back to that pathetic offense we had the past two years...and that is a fact.

OK, backup QB, get out there and win us 4 games--3 against ranked teams...ON THE ROAD. Oh wow, he actually did it...and our offense is finally clicking and we have an identity!!!
This is your team now...you're the new starter! But I'm gonna give your backup--fresh off his suspension some snaps, because I want to...and I would rather play him over our highly touted 3rd string QB.
Hey starter, you're our guy, but I'm gonna give your backup as many snaps as possible to prove himself and possibly earn back the starting job.
I have confidence in you...you're my starting QB. Go out there and win!
Now how does that help Lee's confidence? The whole concept of playing JJ for even one snap after 2 days of practice is insulting...moreso to Mett than JLee.
It's like a machine that runs perfectly on 2 motors...but the machinist thinks to himself, I bet it would run even better with 3 motors! But what actually happens? The simple machine is altared to be more complex, and thus more likely to break down--and put unnecessary strain on all the good parts!

Yep, and the rhythm we haven't seen in years will be disrupted
The offense FINALLY has an identity, why throw a monkey wrench in it?

I haven't heard one single player say Jefferson should start.
I would hope the coaches had a talk with them about not starting an intrasquad civil war and, especially, not going public with any of it. Anyone who comes out and says "the coaches are making the wrong decision _ should play" should be made to run steps until he pukes.

Jefferson will help on some scripted situations, but I don't think he'll see more then 10 snaps once we get into the meat of the SEC. I would expect him and mett to both get a lot of time tomorrow though. Swag could play the entire second half.

My concern is with the emotional aspect of JL. If her goes out and throws an interception and gets substituted for JJ, this could destroy his confidence. One of the improvements of this year compared to last is the accuracy of the passes and less 3 and outs. Our offense is improving every week, staying of the field longer, and confidence is building. I hope we don't lose that momentum and return to the offense that we had last year.

I think LM has said that Lee is the starter, and he probably knows before going into a series that no matter what I do(TD or Int) Swag is coming in next series. He didn't do bad last year coming off the bench and knowing he would get replaced.

You can be afraid of all things that went wrong with Lee too. If you are now able to watch the games without that anxiety, you can learn to watch the same with another player in there.
Also, remember it's just a game. I may not have liked the way LSU played the game last year. But afraid?

Well, you make jokes, but he certainly couldn't see Lee playing like this with this ability....because if he had, and still decided on JJ being #1...then

Do we have red-zone issues? Do we have problems with the run game? Are we having issues throwing short passes or going vertical?
We'll know more next Saturday about wether we need some read and option to loosen things up.

I've only read your OP, so I may be redundant, but I have a few thoughts on this.
First, we haven't played a defense close to the caliber that we will have to in order to win any championships this year, SEC or otherwise.
Secondly, how will forcing an opponent to prepare for a QB with mobility, even if not extensively used in a game, not benefit the offense in some way?
Also, when a DC gameplans for a QB that has no chance to move the ball beyond the LOS, or even avoid the rush for that matter, having a QB who could come in and provide that threat could be a difference maker.
I am actually of the opinion that Jefferson can provide just enough of a change of pace to make things more difficult on coordinators in preparation and during the game.
You don't really think we're just going to line up and bang it down Bama's throat in Tuscaloosa, do you?
What happens when Florida or Bama commits to stopping the run, and successfully covers our one, primary receiver?
As an insurance policy, I sure would like having a QB who could come in and move the chains on third and medium or long, when all receivers are covered.
Of course, some sort of Wildcat with Ware, Magee, or even Shepard could provide some of those benefits, but I think Miles has proven this is not an option for his team.

Sure, because there are lots of carries to go around, because we run the ball a very high percentage of the time. Yards per play is a more important indicator than total yards - see, for example, Geno Smith. He threw for 450+ yards but his yards per attempt wasn't that good, which is a major reason they only scored 21 points.
Right now we're 66th in the country in yards per carry, beneath teams like Vandy and Buffalo. Some of that is due to strength of schedule, but 66th is not the position of an elite rushing offense by any means. There's definitely room for improvement.

we are talking about the performance of our offense the past two seasons under JJ. You are trying to bring up shite about 2008 still, when JL was a freshman. It ain't working sport.

While sitting in the quad I overheard RR talking to some of the other players saying, "He's no.2". Then a few seconds later he said,"He's no .2 this week".

I just don't get why this board gets so polarized. Miles is not an idiot, JJ is not garbage, JL is not garbage. I have supported each QB when he is a starter (the only thing for a fan to do IMO). I have never basher/booer (the boo thread made me
).
Miles is a great coach and yes he has more knowledge and better overall judgment than anyone on this board. What is VERY difficult to separate is how much of the handling of JJ is football judgment.
Whether Miles handles it correctly or not, this is not an easy situation. Miles has told the world, Jefferson, and his family that Jefferson WAS the starting QB for this season. This is a very emotional situation for Miles as he has a relationships involved here. Sometimes it is easier to have a third party mediator type involved in these issues. It would not surprise me if many people (who do not have personal feelings toward JJ or JL) might actually have better judgment on this bizarre issue.
But the big question to ask the board is can people not understand that a coach obviously knows more and has better judgment than a fan base the majority of the time BUT said coach is not infallible. Great presidents, generals, leaders have all made poor emotional or ego based judgments. Is it REALLY that hard for people to understand?

You started off so good...then you just killed yourself. We've played 3 top 25 teams in our first four games. All of which were on the road. Most schools have already played two cupcakes at home. Their numbers are inflated and will come down while ours will remain steady and possibly improve.

WHat skill set does JJ have that would make a difference in a postive direction?
Making opposing coaches prepare for anouther qb with few diff plays is the only positve I see.
I can think of 5 different players Id rather have those touches that JJ could possibly take away.
