Best arm has always meant "arm strength". Touch, accuracy, release, and mechanics have always been in separate categories.

You want your quarterback to have the confidence and to be cocky. A quarterback who lacks that will lose you football games.

Anybody that says anything other than arm strength is lying. When the media or any type of coach says best arm he always means the actual arm strength. Arm talent is always described as arm strength.

It's a pure physical skill. Of course he needs way more than that to be successful, but that's another topic.

My definition of the a great "arm":

- the ability to make any throw an OC can call.

Your OC will not hesitate on a call due to arm strength. (Jennings didn't have a great arm)

Like a 15 yard out to the far side of the field. A deep cross in zone coverage like Jamarcus used to flick in there with ease.
A deep comeback in tight man coverage.

Basically the ball having the least travel time possible to get to its destination in any given circumstance, giving the defense less time to make a play on it.

Having a great arm doesn't make you a great quarterback. The OC still has to trust you to make the reads and have the pocket awareness if he's truly going to be free to call any play in the book. You also have to develop the self control to not put to much on shorter throws.

I believe Harris has a great arm. Close to Metts but not what Jamarcus had. Hopefully the rest of his game developed so we can enjoy all the benefits that come with it

He has a strong arm. Problem is it is run by his brain. So is his mouth. This guy is starting to remind me of JJ. He has shown 0 touch in the short passing game. He is the problem with the offense according to the coaches. They can't open the playbook because he can't execute the short to medium game. It is what it is. Show us what you can do. So far your mouth has over loaded your arse.

Best arm means arm strength. A lot more goes into being best QB. Same as best fastball doesn't mean best pitcher

Im a BH fan but in talking with a few guys at the social involved with the MPA, he's definitely got the second part down. Wish him the best though.

The best arm does not equal the best qb. Jeff George probably had the best arm in the history of football, but he was dumb. Joe Montana had a average arm...

Hope it doesn't mean over throwing the receivers in the flat.....Real QB's make that throw hundreds of times in practice....when you get to this level that pass should be 2nd nature.

Just can't handle the continual over throws on such a fundamental throw.

Wut

RP >>>>> Mett

The adoration for Mettenburger was that he was a good QB after a string of shitty ones

Ray Charles once said you can have fancy a drummer but if he cannot keep a beat he is worthless .
At the QB position you can have a guy who can drill the ball thru your chest at thirty yards without accuracy , control and a quick release you have nothing .

Do you watch the Tigers play at all? The coaches have repeatedly said that they can't call plays that they can't execute. We have all watched Brandon mis-fire over and over again. He does not have touch on his short to medium game. Cam says we would like to pass the ball more. Les says we would like to throw the ball more. Why don't they? Their quarterback can't execute the play. His first season he was accused of not spending enough time in the film room, by the same coaches. Claiming to have the best arm for someone who barely completes 50% of his passes is embarrassing. As far as the JJ comparison, JJ always said that he thought he played well. Even when he had a bad game. Take your racist crap out of here. Herb Tyler and Rohan are 2 of our all time greats. They showed it on the field. They didn't brag about their game, they didn't need too. We all saw it.

Simply means the arm strength to make all the throws. That's it.

So basically you like your quarterbacks to not be so "uppity"?
