What does the linebacker group look like with Divinity gone?

Linebacker group has been pretty amorphous as compared to past years, which is a good thing in this scenario.

Calling Chaisson an OLB for simplicity’s sake...

Brooks Phillips Queen Chaisson ?

He’s a definite loss but if Baskerville shows up we should be fine.

More substance to your response? It appears you have none

I think LSU has had the depth and rotation such that this isn’t a huge deal. It’s nothing like losing White last year.

A little more Andre Anthony / Travez Moore, and a little more of delpit/Stevens playing closer to line.

Yeah I was about to say we may finally see those two a bit more from here on out. Hasn’t Divinity mostly played inside though? Both those guys play on the edge.

* amorphous

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

So the question needs to be asked... how is Delpit's health?

Clark has the body of a rush backer, I’ve always been confused having him in the middle. Of course he might have zero rush ability. But he is the prototype

Brooks absolutely cannot play on run downs. Bama will check out and run right at him. He can only play on obvious passing downs which truly will only really come if LSU is up by 2 scores or more late in game.

Clark isn’t as fast as our edge guys. More of a thumper

Divinity has mostly played opposite Chaisson when we have 4 backers in, which I noticed in Auburn game we did not play a lot of downs with 4 backers in. A lot of 4-2-5 where Chaisson was the 4th man on line.

Divinity also plays a lot as one of the pass rushers on the LOS on pass downs.

ETA: He's also Chaisson's backup.

Doesn’t really have to be a burner. He moves well enough. He’s bigger and has long arms. 6’3” 240. That is what an OLB is supposed to look like.

He has 45lbs on Brooks, for example.

I've noticed that. When he goes sideline to sideline, he doesn't seem like he's trying to run fast... for whatever reason. Seems like he would be faster. Future will tell.

Not sure who will get the most playing time out of Brooks, Baskersville, Anthony, Clark, and Thornton.

I imagine we'll see all of them at different points in the game.

Expect to see a lot of 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 looks with Chaisson, Phillips, and Queen.

They’ll run Stevens and Delpit in the box as well.

Not having Todd Harris makes it a little more difficult. If we had him healthy we could just move Jacoby down into the box predominantly with Harris and Delpit at safety. We should be fine though. Divinity experience and pass rushing will be missed but we should be able to stay afloat with Clark, Brooks, Anthony, etc stepping in.
