Since you know overated teams, was LSU overated this past season?

Yes, I think so.

No more than JoePa's 23-11 bowl record does.

Both coached teams that won more bowl games than they lost.

It tells us that Miles has the best 5 yr bowl record in LSU history.

Just as his 5 yr winning percentage is the best in LSU history.

Personally, those combined tell me I have been pretty darn lucky to be an LSU fan.

It tells us that we have been fortunate to play some very overrated teams.

quote:

-Miami = look what happened to Coker and staff.
-Notre Dame = I think we all knew what was going to happen going into the game.
-Ohio State = again, after the UF nat'l championship, we all knew we would win. it's not like we were matched up with a Texas, USC, OU, etc.
-Georgia Tech = stop the run and we win.

They were overrated after LSU exposed them. I think we were underdogs in all but one. Fans thought Tigers would win, but the pundits, not so much.

What's with the "we" shite? You want to diss LSU bowl wins and in the same instance be a part of LSU? Go root for the gumps.

f we had a month between games, LSU would go undefeated. Pretty sad it takes a coach 30 days to come up with and implement an effective game plan.

I think both sides have the same amount of time to prepare. Is it that difficult to give Miles credit when he deserves it?

For one, I think after a grueling SEC schedule, we get a lot of guys back healthy.

Hit the nail on the head. Everybody has finally had a chance to rest and get healthy after not only a grueling SEC schedule, but also having to deal with travel to and from games and then school (however easy the classes may be, they still add stress that can't help).

Effective?!??? How about "it takes Miles 30 days to come up with and implement an indomitable game plan."

I think that's being a little more accurate. I mean that's all you Saban lovers are after, right, being accurate and rational.

Miles isn't sitting on his hands and is trying to dial up a prescription for the ailment. There might be more under that Hat than he gets credit for.

Judging by the responses of some in this thread , the answer to your question would be a resounding yes.

The mark of a smart coach . . . being able to expose the weaknesses that no one else in the country can see.

The mark of a mean coach . . . relentlessly punishing those teams for their weaknesses.

The mark of a great coach . . . sticking with your team, never blaming the fans or the players, and always ending the season with something to celebrate!!!

Geaux Miles! Geaux Tigers!!!

One cannot discount the bowl game performance under Miles at LSU.

Yes, we had superior teams in each contest, but that does not always translate to victory let alone decisive victories.

And yes, his bowl record at Okie St. was not nearly as sterling, but it has been here so maybe experience taught him some lessons in bowl preparation.

I still have my concerns for the long term under Miles and I'm still having trouble reconciling the laundry lists of his records, bowl and otherwise, with what my eyes see.

But I hope the bowl performance can continue and Coach Miles can prove my concerns unwarranted.

this is the answer.

Having 2mnths to prepare has little to nothing to do with it.

well think about it like this, what coach in his right mind would want to come to LSU if a guy like LM is on the hot seat after the sucess he has had since hes been here.

Truth be told if we win bowl game thats another 10 win season and another top 10 finish.

Bottom line is not having a dependable qb the past two yrs has hurt this team.

Our Def sucked last yr and LM did what it took to get it fixed and seems to be making strides to get this offense vamped up to.

The resounding bowl win and coaching changes quelled a storm to a significant degree last year.

The same formula this year may quiet it again this year as it's always better to go into a long off season on a good note.

But I sense Coach Miles has lost some of the fan base that were formerly loyal and supportive that stuck by him even after last year.

So 2010 will be huge for him, and I don't know that a bowl win and coaching changes will do the trick if next year falls below expectations.

Folks will point more forcefully to the constant.
