His being on the field instead of in the box will be the biggest asset to JJ and the offense. And I am glad they are going back to calling plays in the huddle rather than that get in stance look up shite.

you know, i've thought about this after reading your comment this morning

we have nothing to truly base this on, but i will say it may be right for 1 reason

UF's passing offense is very simple, and as a result the WRs aren't used in the passing game THAT well. however a few recently have come into the NFL and out performed their college numbers. this may be due to the fundamentals they learned

He supposedly has a lot of say in the offense. He threw out a bunch of the playbook saying it contained way too many plays and created a lot of confusion.

If Gonzales brings that much to the table and we need him as much as the Miles worshipers say we do then why is Gary Crowton still the offensive coordinator?

I have no idea. Since Les Miles became the coach, the program has become the most top secret program in the country. Although there is plenty enough to read about LSU, until the season starts it is more or less all based on speculation. LSU must be the hardest team to be a fan of in the country, as LSU fans know the least amount their team compared to other fans in the country.

Like I said before after the big cat drills he talked to his WRs and showed them proper hand placement and where to hit etc. Also, in spring practice they had the football with the yellow circles around the end which were supposedly for catchin technique.

After last year, anything that will shake up the offense is likely to be a serious improvement.

Tiger_n_ATL, I wouldn't say he's entirely a recruiter that can't develop players, but he's only had 2 players really worth a shite in the NFL and that was Harvin (more of just a freak and likely not his coaching) and Murphy. Otherwise all UF's receivers under Gonzales have been busts.

Those saying he'll improve blocking act like our WRs haven't been the best blocking WRs in the country for this past decade. If there has been one things LSU WRs have done well under both Saban and Miles each year it has been blocking.

I think Gonzales has a lot of potential, but a lot of people are expecting things from him that there is almost no proof in his history to back up.

I'm more excited about him having the "passing coordinator" title. Hopefully he can work with JJ to where he won't look so damn confused all the time.

That's a reach considering that our entire defensive staff was replaced last year and they were vastly improved. In addition 3 position coaches on offense are new for this year and have yet to coach a game. You do realize position coaches develop players, don't you? Maybe you should actually let them coach a full spring, summer and fall before you make a statement like that.

Everyone is excited because he's coming from FLORIDA - nothing more, nothing less. If this was Tony Gonzales from Nevada or Indiana or Temple, no one would even be talking of "OC in the wings". I am not sure if this is why he was brought here or not. If Les goes 7-6 this season and gets canned, I am dubious as to any in-coming coach wanting to keep him around. Mike Haywood and Jimbo are the only two coaches at LSU, of note, who were asked to stay when their former/original staff left. If TG continues to recruit well and develop good relations with skill set players, then I hope he sticks around. I am just wondering what got him here to begin with, bc he is coaching for a coach on a warm seat...then again, he's likely the #1 offensive coach below and besides Crowton and if LSU wins 8 or 9 games, but continues to underperform on offense, then there is his shot.
