What do you think Billy Gonzales is bringing to the table?

Honestly, not much. I'm not sure why everyone thinks the former Florida wide receiver's coach is going to revolutionize our putrid offense.

I've thought we weren't overly well coached there recently. He will demand those guys make catches and participate on every play. He's going to demand they are in the right place so when plays break down JJ has a better chance to survive. Also, that they block at point of attack and on the backside. Those are things he pointed out himself on his radio interview that I heard

He brings a great deal in my opinion. He will make the recievers more fundamentally sound. We have plenty of talent there. He will also be a key communicator between Miles and Crowton which is a must in my opinion

Recruiting of Latino players?

Based in what is seen he is a very fired up coach who is loud and chews you out if you mess up. I remember in the big cat drills in the spring he would pull a wr over to the side after they went and show them how to improve and what not.

you are using the verb form
BRINGING
as though its already happening.
Allow the team to play the season before you grade his work.
No games have been played. No recruiting class is complete.

From what I've seen on tape and read, he's a high energy guy that is focused on continuous improvement and being fundamentally sound in all aspects of the game. He also seems to be a good evaluator of talent in recruiting. Read the story on Armand Williams on Dandy Don earlier today and he couldn't understand why LSU hadn't offered this young man prior to him getting involved. He got him an offer quickly and now we'll get to see if that pans out. I hope so. Go read that story if you haven't. Pretty great story!

He's certainly an upgrade over the previous WR coach, so that's a plus.
Some of the homers on here seem to think he is the defacto OC, standing in for a lame duck Gary Crowton. I'm not buying this at all. Crowton is still calling the shots.
The way I see it, the homers rallying behind Gonzales as our offensive savior are simply rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Despite what many think? not much. Lots of his players at UF underperformed and then got to the pros and played well.
He's an okay coach and great recruiter. He's living a lot off of Percy Harvin's career at UF and that honestly had more to do with the talent Harvin had then coaching seeing as he did more damage as a RB rather than a receiver.
That said, I hope he turns out to be a hell of a WR coach, but his past history of developing WRs at UF is no better if not slightly worse than McCarthy's here at LSU.

Thanks for dropping in and shitting on this thread. We need a sticky bashing thread to keep all this shite in , maybe then every other topic wouldn't degrade to this in the first page
