Agreed--a tournament trip to NCAA every year would be nice--that would indicate a competitive team and program.

So, basically be one of the Top 10 programs in the country?

This. We got really screwed in the tourney having to face UNC (the eventual champion) in the state of North Carolina in the round of 32. We actually played them closer than anyone else did...our team had some potential that year

Nothing he said is untrue. If you read, all he said is it would be nice. I think we can all agree that would be nice. Now, whether he implied it as an expectation is something you have to ask him.

False....to make the NCAA tourney 9 out of 10 years you dont have to be a top 10 program. Would you consider Pitt (caught a little of the pitt villinova game yesterday) a top 10 program at least historically? They have made it every year since 2002. Making it every year would make us a top 2-3 SEC team which I think is our rightful place. Based on history we have an argument for top 3 definitely top 5 history in the SEC. Id take our all time team against everyone except for maybe Kentucky.

Where would you rank LSU in the SEC over the last 20 years?

I agree, that's why I believe that 8 of 10 years should be a doable goal as I previously posted.

BTW...Bruce Pearl made the NCAA tourney 6/6 years.....LSU fans have set the bar WAAAY too low if asking to make the tourney 7-8/10 years is out of line...

Almost.

We're also below Vandy.

And Ole Miss.

And Georgia.

And Auburn.

And Tennessee.

And South Carolina.

Since 1993, LSU is the WORST team in the SEC. W-O-R-S-T.

And that's WITH a Final Four and Sweet Sixteen run.

Without Brandon Bass and Stromile Swift, you could be looking at the worst major conference basketball team of the last twenty years.

You folks that Trent Johnson has "had his time to right the ship" are fricking delusional.

Sorry to be blunt, but it is what it is.

People act like recruits are beating down the door to come play basketball at the powerhouse LSU. That just isn't reality.

You are an idiot.

Ole Miss has 5 tourneys since 93 1 sweet sixteen
USC has 3 no 16s
Auburn has 3 2 16s but no final 4s
UGA has 6 tourneys but only 1 16
I had UT above us

LSU has 6 tourneys 2 sweet 16s and 1 final four.

We are not the worst SEC team....we have had some lows but at least brady had some highs too...he needed to go but year four Trent should have had time to get into the tourney....At the very least we should be a sure thing for the NIT

North Carolina is 8/10.

Syracuse is 7/10.

UConn is 8/10.

Indiana is 5/10.

So, the worst team in the SEC over the last 20 years should be in the tournament more often than the most storied programs in the country?

Got it.

And we should ALREADY be at that point.

You people are fricking high.

This is through LAST weekend, I haven't updated it..... perhaps we squeaked ahead of Auburn.

quote:

Team (SEC Winning % since 1993)
Kentucky (.766)
Florida (.618)
MSU (.539)
Tennessee (.520)
Alabama (.515)
Arkansas (.493)
Vanderbilt (.480)
Ole Miss (.444)
Georgia (.425)
South Carolina (.408)
Auburn (.396)
LSU (.393)

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Are facts getting in the way of your opinion?

There is only 5 people on a basketball court at any given time. Its not hard to turn a basketball team around very quickly with decent recruiting.

Yes our winning % sucks...I think our tourney appearances easily out weigh .051 difference in winning % ....how bout you ask Ole Miss fans or South Carolina fans if theyd trade?

I thought that first year was a sign of good things to come...His recruiting leaves something to be desired....He also has no personality to boot....He better get Gathers and at least make the NIT this year....If we make the NIT this year and NCAA next year then I will think we are on the way back....My argument is mainly people accept too little out of the bball program when we have history that proves we can be much much better.

Or my facts are getting in the way of yours....the regular season means absolutely nothing in college basketball...its all about the tourney....we are not the "worst SEC team" in basketball since 93 because I dont let one stat get in the way of seeing the whole picture.....once again it doesnt matter that they averaged about 1 more SEC win/season in regular season basketball when we have done far more in the tourney.

So, LSU "rightfully belongs" in the top 2 or 3 teams in the SEC because we have as many tournament appearances, Final Fours and Sweet Sixteens since 1993 as Virginia Commonwealth and George Mason, and less appearances than Butler?

Got it.

Don't let reality get in the way of your imagination.

I wonder if this is what Rutgers, Northwestern and Iowa State football fans are like?
