SFP, you know division losses are worse than non-division losses.
who you lose to matters more than if they're in your division or not if we're talking about pure rankings
and you're failing to recognize that the SEC East > SEC West, and it has been for years

We can all do that all day long. You're better than this.
i thought the thread was about Richt, not Miles. Miles shouldn't have lost those games.
Not scoring an offensive TD against an unranked team at your own place is an embarrassment

He looks like Helen Hunt.

Richt has not
Spurrier would not have his National Title if the BCS had been in place in 1996.
Saban won in 2003 his record was 13-1, in 2002 Richt went 13-1. Had OU and USC gone undefeated in 2003, like Miami and tOSU did in 2002, Saban would be like Richt 13-1 ranked #3.
Things beyond the control of the HC of any team affect the NC, unless you can explain what Saban did in 2003 to make sure there were not 2 undefeated teams?

This is sort of a silly statement.
I could just as easily argue, he may have won more than one.

i'd agree if it was 2000, in 2008 MR > SOS

well Saban has been referred to as either being the devil or having similar character, so...

Well its true though. They were ranked #1 and lost their last game to #2 FSU, both FSU and Arz St were undefeated. Under the BCS the CG would have been #1 FSU v. #2 ASU. As it was, Texas beating NU in the Big 12 CG moved UF up, if NU had won that, they would have played FSU in the Sugar and the best UF could have done would have been #3.

name them. In 96 the Big 10/Pac10/Rose Bowl were not part of the Bowl Alliance, 2 years later they joined up and formed the BCS. Any hypos you could offer involve UF not losing a game they did in fact lose.
ETA my point is often there are factors beyond a coaches control that determine the NC (though losing to FSU was in SOS's control).

My point is, it's silly to try to go back and retroactively apply different rules than from what they were competing under, and create a "hypothetical" scenario for what "would have" happened.
That said, I think Spurrier would have one at least one National Championship, under whatever rules were in place, at some point during the 1990s. And it's silly to try to suggest otherwise.

Seems like a nice guy, but his teams have not achieved up to their talent level at Georgia.
His offense looks alot like Jimbo's

its pretty strait forward and I don't mean it to blast SOS who is (or was) a great coach, just to point it its silly to blast a coach that has won 2 SEC titles, and gone 2-1 in the SECCG and in BCS bowls and posted an identical record as some coaches that have won NC's for not winning one when so many factors go into making the NCG that are beyond the coaches control.

The only case you could make would if the old MNC system had been in place in 95 (95 was the first year of the Bowl Alliance, the precurser to the BCS). Rather than play Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl, UF would have been in the Sugar and NU in the Orange, assuming both win, there might have been a split poll.

As a coach -- probably OK, he got on my nerves last year pimping for a berth in the national championship game. As a man he just moved to the top of the list. A friend of mine asked me to watch " Facing the Giants ". Anyone who would give of his time and talent to participate in a movie like that is #1 in my book! Any of you who haven't watched this film need to!

Against a very good defense, with an OL featuring 3 freshmen in their 2nd game, with a true sophomore QB and a freshman RB...
Not good, but not really an "embarrassment" either.
It was a bad loss. Same as LSU's losses last year. It's CFB... it happens... even to great coaches and teams. Grading coaches or even seasons by one or two games is silly. The full picture tells us more, and in 2007, it showed us two teams with nearly identical regular seasons. (Miles with a far more loaded/experienced team than Richt's of course... which isn't to say Miles isn't a great coach... he is. So is Richt.)

Ok, just so we're clear. You started this thread just to hear how great Richt is and didn't think there would be any negative things said. You asked our opinion and then complained when we told you our opinions. If you don't want to know, then don't ask.

then you have richt's whining factor. Complaining about sportscenter, give me a break
