I'd be willing to bet 95% of people predicted before the season that we would be 8-4, 9-3, or 10-2. And maybe some of the extreme P&G goggle wearers said 11-1. We are 7-1, lost by 7 points to a good team with the best player in the country carrying the ball. We go 3-1 or 2-2 to finish the season we end up having a record that everyone thought we would have. Not saying we dont have problems or that we've played great football, becasue obviously we havent. Just sayin that we will most likely be what we thought we were gonna be, a pretty good team with an opportunity to play in the SECCG. People need to quit acting like were 3-5 and calm down just a little. If you had no knowledge of college football this year, you would think we would have a losing record from reading this board. And no, im not a Les miles lover, nor think both of our QB's are any good, just saying we will most likely end up with the record we were thought to have. Yes, our wins have been far from pretty and quite frustrating, but they still go down as W's. Just sayin...

I predicted 9-3, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be happy about it if that turns out to be true. I made that prediction with my head, not my heart. I said this in another thread...in 1999, I predicted LSU to be 5-6, but that doesn't mean I would have been happy about it (it turned out to be even worse).

The better point to make right now, is that no one, I mean no one, could have honestly expected LSU to be better than 7-1 right now. If we were, then fantastic. I think we need to let the rest of the season play out...if LSU finishes 11-1, that would be a great season. 10-2 would be good, less than that would be unacceptable.

8-4

predicted losses to fla, auburn, bama, & ark

i think we still lose to bama and ark which will be 9-3. i'll be alright with that record wise, but that's probably gonna be 4th place in the west which is not acceptable at LSU.

9-3 with losses to FL, AL, & AR.

* So we swapped FL and AU. Big deal, no improvement there.
* I certainly didn't expect LSU's Ws to be as lame as they are. A major disappointment.
* I credited Miles with showing at least some improvement offensively - after all he had all off-season to work on it, but instead what we see is last year all over again. Which reminds me...
* The O-line still sucks. Doubts? Watch a replay of the AU game again.

And BTW, you *are* a sunshine-pumper. Look at you rationalizing the suck and saying how good it all is. Pitiful.

10-2 with losses to Bama and Florida. Little did I know that Brantley would suck and Cam would be unreal

We still have a significant opportunity to finish 8-4. Ole Myth is improving and might beat us unless we can figure out the offense. AL and AR will be very tough games.

I mean its the SEC, we could lose a game every week, but Ole Miss' rushing defense is not nearly as good as Auburn's and Arkansas' rush defense is worse. We are an offense that has to run the ball effectively to score points, I think we can do that against Ole Miss and Arkansas and I think we have a better than average shot at winning both games. The Alabama game will be a different story. We can't just sit back and hope that running the ball with the occasional good passing play will get the job done. We need to play a complete football game in order to win

I agree with a previous poster in that just because we predicted 8-4, 9-3 doesn't mean that is all good. If anything, that's why a lot of us think Miles needs to go. It's the same mediocre crap season after season for 3 in a row.

a very large majority predicted lsu to go 8-4, then there was an equal majority that picked 7-5 and 9-3.....there was only a small % that picked 10-2 or better....before the season started. Many have changed their tune since then. I pikced 10-2, and will be very happy when/if they finish that way it will have been a good season.

I said 9-3, losses to FL, Bama, and Arky, I didn't know who this kid Cam Newton was at that point, still would be happy with a 9-3 finish considering how our offense is playing.

I'm not ready for Miles to go, but I would be happy if Crowton went packing, I will be willing to give miles another 2-3 years if he can land this Mettenburg kid from Juco and see what kind of offense he can put together with all of this great young talent that we have at the running back position and some of those big guys blocking for them, if he can land Mettenburg and keep the offensive line healthy I think in a year or 2 we will win the SEC West again, but if he doesn't than we will see much of the same for the next 2-3 years than i would be willing to see a change.

When the vast majority of people predicted 8-4 or 9-3 before the season, they didn't expect our defense, special teams, or running game to be as good as they are. Who were the 2 teams predicted 1 and 2 by the professional analyst and who are 1 and 2 now.

True...and they expected the QB play to be significantly better than it has been.

Yet the majority of disappointed posters will just ignore the improvements and point to the negatives as coaching failures.

I'm not saying the coaching staff does not have issues, because I think that it does. But if we end up at 10-2 or better, overall, this coaching staff would have done a very good job.

auburn is 1, lsu is 2? I think this is lost on all the kids having a major meltdown right now. LOTS of people need to take a step back and take a look at the bigger picture in life. I love lsu and am a passionate fan, as passionate as they come...but it's a fricking game played by kids....and lsu is currently 7-1 and still has a chance at a great season.....geez. You would think they were 4-4 right now staring down a losing season. I understand that there are some older guys on here than never matured and gained wisdom and are able to recognize this.....to that there is no excuse but that you are a loser in life. To the kids that are melting down...one day you will realize how good you had it during this time at lsu.

I picked 11-2 with losses to UF in the regular season and another loss to UF in the SECCG.
